The Chery Fulwin T10 sets a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance travelled by a PHEV SUV.

Chinese automaker Chery has a new world record under its belt, as its latest Chery Fulwin T10 charted a new Guinness World Record for the longest total distance travelled by a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV without ever stopping for charging or refuelling.

The Fulwin T10 started its record-breaking run from Shangri-La City in the Yunnan province on July 17, passing through Kunming, Baise, and Zhanjiang, and arriving at the end point in Zhuhai on July 20. In the end, the Fulwin T10 clocked in a total travel distance of over 2,100 KM, surpassing the previous record by a healthy margin of over 300 KM.

More details about the car, the Chery Fulwin T10 is essentially a plug-in hybrid version of the China-spec Chery Tiggo 9, which stood as the largest SUV model by the Wuhu-based automaker. Not to be confused with the global-spec Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV launched at the Beijing motor show earlier this year, the Fulwin T10 is also based on the Malaysian-bound Jaecoo J8 midsize SUV, whereas the new Tiggo 9 PHEV is essentially an electrified version of the Tiggo 8 three-row SUV.

Expected to make its Chinese debut later this month, the Chery Fulwin T10 will be available in two powertrain flavours, namely the front-wheel drive (FWD) and the all-wheel drive (AWD) versions. Regardless of versions, the Fulwin T10 features Chery’s new Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM PHEV system that uses a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged mill rated at 154 HP and 220 NM as its core.

For the FWD model, said 1.5T mill is mated to a single electric motor to deliver a total system output of 375 HP and 610 NM. Meanwhile, the top-spec Fulwin T10 AWD gets an extra motor to deliver a higher total system output of 610 HP and 960 NM, allowing this three-row SUV to accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in just 4.9 seconds, en route to its limited V-Max of 240 KM/H.

The Fulwin T10 supports both AC and DC charging methods, with the latter capped at 71 kW.

As for the battery, both variants of the Fulwin T10 get the same CATL-sourced 34.46-kWh battery pack that provides a pure EV range of up to 210 KM (CLTC). Unlike many PHEVs out there, the Fulwin T10 supports both DC and AC charging methods, with the former capped at 71 kW, which allows a 30-80% charge to be done in just 18 minutes.

Besides the powertrain difference, the Fulwin T10 also comes in two seating layouts, namely the five-seater version that is spread across two rows of seats and the three-row six-seater option. Regardless of seating layouts, the T10’s cabin is decked with the latest tech amenities, including the dual 24.6-inch display setup on its front dash and an expansive 50-inch head-up display (HUD) that supports augmented reality (AR), both of which are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
