Auto China 2024: Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV Launched, 238HP & 1,400KM Range

The Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV made its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2024 (Auto China 2024), in front of over 2,000 international attendees.

The launch event, themed "New Energy, New Eco, New Era," featured Chery's most recent advances in the new energy front - all of which present in the nes Tiggo 9 model.

As the newest member of the Tiggo family, the Tiggo 9 PHEV represents the pinnacle of luxury and technology in the brand's lineup.

The Tiggo 9 PHEV’s striking design concept is built on the “Conquer” and “Guard” philosophy. The exterior is based on the "Conquer" concept and includes a prominent octagonal grille, dynamic body lines, and 20-inch multi-spoke wheels, all of which emphasises a strong and adventurous character. Inside, the "Guard" concept prevails, providing a safe, comfortable, and technologically advanced atmosphere.

Highlights in the Tiggo 9 PHEV includes a 15.6-inch 2.5K HD display and an integrated multifunction console that streamlines operations while adding to the cabin's modern attractiveness. The specifically sewn 3D stitched seats provide excellent comfort, for an enjoyable journey.

The Tiggo 9 PHEV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol mill mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The combustion mill alone delivers an output of 238 HP with  a peak torque of 385 NM. The combination of this engine alongside the hybrid system enables the Tiggo 9 PHEV to achieve fuel economy rates as low as 5.2 litres/ 100 KM (WLTC).

Speaking of hybrid tech, the Tiggo 9 PHEV comes equipped with Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) system featuring a 3DHT electric motor setup that outputs as high as 224 HP. It provides a boost to improve the SUV's acceleration and extends its total driving range to over 1,400KM (CLTC), reducing range anxiety and promoting long-range, eco-friendly travel.

According to Chery, the Tiggo 9 PHEV embodies Chery's innovation in the new energy sector, emphasising its remarkable design and range-enhancing capabilities. With its advanced power technology and user-friendly design, the model is poised to set new benchmarks for PHEV automobiles.

Moving forward, Chery intends to launch other petrol and PHEV variants of the Tiggo 9 in the fourth quarter of 2024. This debut is projected to meet a wide spectrum of consumer aesthetic, space, and performance expectations, ushering Chery into a new chapter in the global luxury SUV industry.

Meanwhile, when CariCarz.com inquired about its arrival into the Malaysian market, Chery Malaysia stated that the Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV would be available here by the fourth quarter of 2024.
