Continental Tyres Malaysia Expands ContiSeal Tech to More Products
Due to the copious amount of road debris, potholes, and sudden rainfalls, vehicles in Malaysia are prone to tyre punctures and damages, which can pose a safety hazard and disrupt one’s journey. Fortunately, technology in tyres has evolved fairly rapidly in recent years, one of which is self-sealing tyre technology.
Continental Tyres Malaysia has expanded its proprietary ContiSeal tech to a wider set of products and rim sizes.
Addressing the need for more self-sealing tyres in the market, Continental Tyres Malaysia has expanded its proprietary ContiSeal self-sealing tyre technology to a wider set of products and rim sizes. This expansion aims to provide the ContiSeal tech to a wider range of car owners, thus ensuring that more drivers are protected from any puncture-related mishaps.
First unveiled in 2023, the ContiSeal technology has been refined for more than two decades. As a result of decade-long work and research, Continental Tyres claims that the ContiSeal tech can provide immediate sealing of 80% of all punctures and 99.9% of tyre punctures up to 5 MM in diameter as they occur. Through a vulcanisation process, ContiSeal’s durability and elasticity are enhanced, resulting in reduced cavity noise up to 3 dB through its minimised mass space within the tyre.
Capable of plugging holes up to 5 MM in diameter, it creates an airtight seal that prevents air from leaking. Applied to the tyre’s inside in the tread area, the sealant layer ensures that the tyre maintains its integrity and performance, even under rigorous and challenging conditions. Therefore, in instances of foreign object penetration, such as nails, there’s no immediate need for roadside tyre changes, and holes remain sealed even when the puncturing object is dislodged.
Unlike run-flat tyres, ContiSeal-ready tyres perform like standard tyres without sacrificing comfort and require no specific vehicle modifications. And even when the tyres are punctured, ContiSeal tyres can maintain their integrity and performance, allowing unrestricted driving and can be repaired if necessary.
While self-sealing tyres may be more expensive initially, it can save owners from the potential costs of towing and replacing tyres frequently in the long run. Not to mention, Continental tyres with ContiSeal technology are covered under the company’s standard manufacturing warranty. In addition, buyers can also benefit from the Total Confidence Plan (TCP), which provides a one-to-one tyre replacement for unexpected road damage within the first year.
Popular Continental tyre models like the UltraContact UC7 (left) & UltraContact UC6 SUV (right) will get the ContiSeal tech from July 2024 onwards for our market.
From July 2024 onwards, Continental Tyres Malaysia will incorporate the ContiSeal technology into some of its popular tyre models, including the UltraContact UC7, PremiumContact C, and UltraContact UC6 SUV, in sizes ranging from 16-inch to 20-inch. These ContiSeal-ready tyres can be purchased at any official Continental Tyres dealer in Malaysia, or alternatively via its official Shopee or Lazada e-commerce stores.
