The all-new smart #3 EV breaks cover in Malaysia today, arriving in three variants priced from RM175,000 onwards.
Following its initial preview at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 earlier this year, smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) has finally launched its second-ever model, the much-anticipated smart #3. Just like the smart #1, the smart #3 sporty EV crossover is available in three variants, namely the baseline Pro, the mid-spec Premium, and the range-topping Brabus.
Entry-level smart #3 Pro
Starting with the Pro model, it comes with a small 49-kWh LFP battery pack that powers its single rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor rated at 268 HP (200 kW) and 343 NM. Said motor setup allows the #3 to have a decent 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 5.8 seconds and a V-Max of 180 KM/H, while its small battery pack grants a claimed WLTP range of 325 KM.
In terms of charging, the small 49-kWh LFP unit supports both AC and DC charging at 22 kW and 130 kW rates, respectively.
smart #3 Premium
As for the Premium and Brabus variants, both models are juiced by the same 66-kWh NMC battery pack. Unlike the Pro model, both the #3 Premium and Brabus get a faster DCFC rate of 150 kW, while their AC rates are still capped at 22 kW. With the #3 Premium model using the same RWD motor setup as the Pro model, it gets the highest WLTP range of 455 KM.
Range-topping smart #3 Brabus
The #3 Brabus, on the other hand, gets a peppier dual-motor AWD setup rated at 422 HP (315 kW) and 543 NM, which allows a faster century sprint time of 3.7 seconds. Due to its peppier motor setup, however, the #3 Brabus gets a slightly discounted WLTP range of 415 KM.
Besides sharing the same underpinnings, namely the Geely SEA platform, both the #1 and #3 also share some design traits, which is no coincidence since both models were penned by the Mercedes-Benz design team in Europe. Familiar #1 design traits such as both the lighting unit design and the rounded body style can all be seen on #3, despite the fact that the latter sits wider and longer than the former.
smart #3 Pro (left) & smart #3 Premium (right)
The biggest difference between the #3 and the #1 lies in its roof design, with the #3 boasting a sportier coupe-like design. Differentiating the three #3 variants are the wheels, with the Pro model rolling on 19-inch ‘Flux’ wheels, while the Premium variant gets 19-inch ‘Torque’ wheels instead, plus Cybersparks LED matrix headlights.
As for the #3 Brabus, it comes with 20-inch ‘Synchro’ wheels with red brake callipers hiding beneath them, a more prominent rear spoiler, and a slew of Brabus branding scattered around the exterior. Aside from the three variants, customers can also choose up to 12 exterior colour combinations for the #3.
On board, the #3 gets a similar-looking cabin layout as the #1, featuring an array of tech and comfort amenities. Standard pieces of equipment include the massive 12.8-inch floating infotainment screen that supports wireless mobile connectivity (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), a smart integrated charging map, a smaller 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, and many more.
Opting for the #3 Premium gives you some extra equipment such as the 10-inch head-up display (HUD), a 13-speaker Beats audio system, Automatic Parking Assistant (APA), a kick sensor for its powered tailgate, as well as the multi-colour ambient lighting system.
Meanwhile, the top-spec #3 Brabus gets plush microfibre seat upholstery with Brabus embroidery on the headrests, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with an illuminated Brabus emblem, a slew of red accents and seat belts, aluminium sports pedals, and a black-hued headliner.
With that being said, the all-new smart #3 is priced at RM175,000 for the entry-level Pro variant, RM215,000 for the Premium, and RM255,000 for the range-topping Brabus variant. Included with said prices are smart Malaysia’s All-Inclusive Premium Ownership and Launch Packages.
Key offerings included in said package include an 8-Year or 200,000 KM High-Voltage Battery Warranty, an 8-Year or 150,000 KM High-Voltage Component Warranty, a 4-Year Unlimited Mileage Vehicle Warranty, and a 2-Year Unlimited Mileage Spare Parts Warranty with 24/7 Roadside Service Assistance.
Also included with said package is a complimentary smartCharge home charger worth RM3,200 with a 2-year warranty, a complimentary accessories package with six items worth RM2,500, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) adaptor worth RM800 with a 2-year warranty, and a complimentary 5-year Internet data of a total 60 GB.
