MOT has revised the cost to print Vehicle Ownership Certificates (VOCs) as pictured in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan from RM50 to RM20 starting July 1.

Besides detailing new VEP procedures yesterday, Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook also announced that his ministry has revised the printing costs for vehicle ownership certificate (VOC) during the same press conference.

Effective July 1, the fee to print VOCs – also known as vehicle titles or geran – in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan has been lowered to RM20. Previously, the fee to print said document cost RM50 across Peninsular Malaysia and RM25 in both Sabah and Labuan.

At the same time, Loke also clarified that the cost to print a VOC in Sarawak state remains unchanged at RM5. “This adjustment aims to bridge the fee gap between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak,” explained Loke regarding the price revision, as reported by local newswire Bernama.

The current format of the VOC printed in A5-size was introduced in 2016 where it replaced the previous A4-sized Registration Card (RC) document. The former contains all relevant vehicle and ownership details as defined by the RC, albeit in a more simplified manner.

However, unlike before, whereby an RC was physically required to perform transactions such as road tax renewal and vehicle ownership changes or amendments to particulars, the current VOC isn’t physically required for such procedures.

This revised VOC printing cost were amongst several matters outlined by Transport Minister Anthony Loke in his press conference held yesterday. Other matters outlined and clarified included revised driving school vehicle inspection cycles, possible driving licence age limits for the elderly, and more.
