Launched: 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV – NMC Battery, 673 KM Range, From RM625,888

Arguably the star of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur that's happening this week is the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV.
Earlier today, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) expanded its all-electric models range once again by announcing a new addition. Launched at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur soiree in Sentul Depot today was the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV.
As you can probably guess, this is a new variant of the three-point star’s flagship EQS SUV model, and this latest entry slots below the now range-topping EQS 580 4MATIC SUV launched late last year. Moreover, it sports several key equipment that largely differs form said range-topper.

In 450 4MATIC form, this variant of the EQS SUV slots below the now range-topping 580 4MATIC variant launched by MBM late last year.
Starting with drivetrain, the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV continues to harness a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, albeit with lower 355 HP and 858 NM outputs. Altogether, this sees 0-100 KM/H sprints done in 6.1 seconds and an unchanged V-max of 210 KM/H.
Juicing said motor is a new 118 KWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) type battery pack. According to MBM, a full charge grants the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV with up to 673 KM of WLTP-rated range – 58 KM more than the range-topping 580 variant.
Said battery also accepts both 11 kW AC and up to 200 kW DC charging inputs, with the latter fast-charging method granting 10-80% re-charges in just 31 minutes.

It's worth noting that this variant of the EQS SUV is primed with a 118 kWh NMC-type battery pack that offers up to 673 KM of WLTP range. It also accepts up to 20 kW DC fast-charging inputs enabling 10-80% re-charges in 31 minutes.
In terms of specifications, this newly added variants mirrors its range-topping sibling mentioned. Key highlights include Airmatic air suspension with ADS+ variable damping adjustment, Digital Light headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, and a full swing of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features enabling semi-autonomous driving.
On board, the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV also boasts the massive tri-screened MBUX Hyperscreen display dominating its dash. Complementing highlights here include the MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment System, 15-speaker Burmester audio suite with Dolby Atmos surround sound, as well as the Energising Package, amongst many others.

On board, the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV also boasts the signature MBUX Hyperscreen setup up front matched with the MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment System. Additionally, this variant is also decked out with the Electric Art cabin trim package.
As for aesthetics, the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV wears the AMG Line exterior package featuring 22-inch AMG wheels and black-finished trims and accents. On board, the cabin is decked out with the Electric Art package that brings brown open-pore magnolia wood trims plus aluminium star-pattern dash accents, as well as black-brown Nappa leather upholstery.
Open for viewing and orders at authorised Mercedes-Benz dealers now, the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV commands a price tag of RM625,888. This puts this new offering at RM74,000 less than the EQS 580 4MATIC SUV variant that now slots above which.
