Launched: McLaren Artura Spider – From RM3.4 Million

Launched locally earlier today by McLaren Kuala Lumpur was the McLaren Artura Spider - the open-top twin to the electrified Artura.
McLaren Kuala Lumpur (McFarren Supercars Sdn Bhd) expanded its line-up after introducing its latest metal in the form of the McLaren Artura Spider earlier today. Effectively, this is the open-top twin to the Artura super plug-in hybrid (PHEV) coupe the firm introduced in 2022.
In Spider form, McLaren’s first electrified performance supercar pairs a mid-mounted 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo heart with an axial flux e-motor plus a compact 7.4 kWh battery pack. Altogether, the setup outputs 690 HP and 720 NM combined.
Said outputs drive the rear wheels through McLaren’s unique 8-speed SSG automatic transmission, which in turn enables 0-100 KM/H sprints in 3.0 seconds, 0-200 KM/H sprints in 8.4 seconds, as well as an electronically-capped V-max of 330 KM/H.

Visually, the Artura Spider shares the same front fascia as its coupe twin, and visible differences can be seen in the roof and rear sections.
With a full charge, the battery and e-motor enables up to 33 KM of electric-only driving range. Crucially, the electrified setup also sees the Artura Spider stand as one of McLaren’s greenest cars yet as it emits a claimed 108 g/km of CO2 (combined, WLTP).
Before you ask, the battery pack in question can be re-charged by the engine or by plugging-in, the latter via an EVSE cable that provides up to 80% state-of-charge in just 2.5 hours.
Aptly, the Spider heightens the thrills of its coupe twin by adding wind-in-hair thrills through its electric one-piece retractable hard top (RHT). This feature deploys and retracts in just 11 seconds up to speeds of 50 KM/H, and can be optionally equipped with an electrochromic panel.

With combined outputs of 690 HP and 720 NM, the Artura Spider despatches 0-100 KM/H dashes in just 3 seconds, and 0-200 KM/H in just 8.4 seconds. Moreover, its electrified setup also boasts up to 33 KM of electric driving range.
Aesthetically, the Artura Spider retains much of same styling as seen in its coupe twin, the only difference being its roof and subsequently the rear end. Beyond which, the Artura Spider continues to underpin McLaren’s signature carbon tub chassis layout underneath.
The latter ought to also back up McLaren’s claims of the Artura Spider standing as the lightest convertible in class – it tips the scale at just 1,560 KG laden, according to its makers.

Hiding behind each 19- (front) and 20-inch (rear) wheels are massive 390 MM (front) and 380 MM carbon ceramic brake rotors that are grabbed by six- and quad-piston monobloc calipers respectively.
That aside, the Artura Spider is also endowed with much of McLaren’s high-tech performance hardware that includes independent adaptive dampers with Proactive Damping Control (PDC), Electronic Differential (E-Diff), as well as massive 390 MM (front) and 380 MM (rear) carbon ceramic brake rotors grabbed by six- (front) and quad-piston (rear) monobloc calipers.
As for rolling stock, the McLaren Artura Spider rocks staggered 19-inch (front) and 20-inch (rear) wheels shod in grippy Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres.

On board, it's the Artura Spider mirrors its coupe twin by sporting a pair of lightweight McLaren Clubsport seats, minimalist digital dash, and the MIS II infotainment suite paired with a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround audio suite.
On board, it’s the typical McLaren affair and mirrors the coupe version once again. You’ll find a pair of lightweight McLaren Clubsport seats, a minimalist digital instrument display panel, the McLaren Infotainment and Connectivity System (MIS II) high-definition screens, not forgetting a slew of Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) features.
Take note, select ADAS features such as Intelligent Cruise Control with Switchable Follow Mode, Auto High-Beam Assist, Blindspot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Detection are offered as options. Primed as standard though are Lane Departure Warning and Road Sign Recognition.
Also present on board is a Bowers & Wilkins 12-speaker surround audio suite. For the interior, prospecting buyers can opt for either the Performance, TechLux or Vision packages, each sporting distinct cabin trim materials and colourways.

Keen prospects can now commission the McLaren Artura Spider at the main McLaren Kuala Lumpur brand outlet in Glenmarie, Shah Alam where it is priced from RM3.4 million (duties included) sans customisation options and on-road costs.
Excluding customisation options and on-road costs, prospects are welcomed to commission their own Artura Spider at the main McLaren Kuala Lumpur brand outlet in Glenmarie, Shah Alam where its price starts from RM3.4 million (duties included).
Like its coupe twin, said price sees the Artura Spider come with a 5-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, 6-year or 75,000 KM battery warranty, 10-year body perforation corrosion warranty, as well as a 3-year all-inclusive service plan plus a 5-year roadside assistance package.
