MINI Aceman EV Makes ASEAN Debut in Thailand – Malaysia Next?

The new MINI Aceman EV makes its ASEAN debut in Thailand today. Is Malaysia next on the list?
Several months after making its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year, the new MINI Aceman EV has finally made its ASEAN regional debut in Thailand.

The Thai market only gets one variant of the new Aceman, namely the top-spec Aceman SE.
For our northern neighbour market, the new Aceman is a sole high-spec SE variant, which is powered by the same single, front-mounted e-motor setup used on other MINI EVs such as the new Cooper SE and the Countryman SE. Rated at 215 HP (160 kW) and 330 NM, this setup allows the Aceman SE to accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in 7.3 seconds, en route to its electronically-limited V-max of 170 KM/H.

Power is drawn from a 54.2-kWh battery pack that provides the Aceman SE with a maximum EV range of up to 405 KM, according to the WLTP standards. Said battery pack can be charged using an AC 11 kW charger, which takes about five hours and 45 minutes to fully charge the car, while the faster 95 kW DC charging allows the pack to replenish from 10–80% in just 31 minutes.

Positioned as MINI’s new small SUV crossover, the MINI Aceman measures 4,076 MM long, 1,754 MM wide, 1,515 MM tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,606 MM, thus making it slightly smaller than the new MINI Countryman. In both size and design, the MINI Aceman bridges the gap between the Countryman SUV and the Cooper hatch, featuring a slightly rugged crossover body style like the former, but at the same time featuring some hatchback-style design cues derived from the latter.
Special for the Thai-spec Aceman SEare the 18-inch ‘Night Flash Spoke’ two-tone alloy wheels this EV crossover rides on.

On-board, the Thai-spec Aceman SE gets a host of modern tech amenities and equipment, featuring two colour choices for its Vecsin synthetic leather upholstery, namely Beige or Nightshade Blue. Key highlights include the panoramic glass roof, a rounded OLED infotainment screen that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster with a head-up display (HUD), JCW sporty front seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and many more.

As for the pricing, the Thai-spec MINI Aceman SE is tagged at THB 1.999 million (RM255,494), slotting it perfectly between the Cooper EV hatch and the Countryman EV SUV, which are priced at THB 1.699 million (RM217,150) and THB 3.399 million (RM434,429), respectively.
Given that the Aceman has already made its ASEAN debut in Thailand, we can expect this new small crossover to make its landfall in our market any time soon. Currently, MINI Malaysia has launched both the new Cooper and Countryman EVs into our market, leaving the Aceman as the sole MINI next-gen product that hasn’t made its local debut.
