Tesla Will Reveal Its Robotaxi On October 10

Recently, Elon Musk revealed that Tesla will unveil the robotaxi on October 10, slightly over two months later than originally scheduled. The unveiling is generally regarded as a product demonstration rather than a launch. 

When Musk stated in April that the maker of electric vehicles will unveil a robotaxi on August 8, investors were enthused. Tesla shares, however, lost some of the enormous gains they had made over the previous few months after it was announced that the event would be postponed.

The Tesla CEO on July 15 wrote on social media that he had requested an “important design change to the front” of the vehicles, adding that it will give his team time to “show off a few other things.”
Although its first model wouldn't be produced until 2023, the Cybertruck electric pickup was first unveiled in November 2019 and production was slated to begin in 2021. Tesla now plans to unveil a prototype by the end of 2024 instead of its original goal of bringing a second-generation Roadster sports car to market by 2021.

Robotaxis are expected to be a significant revenue driver for Tesla in the future. Musk has described launching a network that is a "combination of Airbnb and Uber," with owners able to opt their vehicles into the service at their leisure.
Last month, Musk reiterated to Tesla owners that they could profit from the self-driving fleet while sleeping, as the company would use an app to summon cars to pick up customers for its potential ride-hail service.
