Zeekr 009 EV MPV Spotted in Malaysia – Launch Imminent?

The Zeekr 009 EV MPV is slated to make its official Malaysian market entry soon...
In case you missed it, Geely’s luxury EV sub-brand, Zeekr, is slated to make its official landfall here in Malaysia. Ahead of its official market entry, it seems that a Zeekr 009 EV MPV has been spotted roaming down the streets of Malaysia.

Spotted by Facebook user Yuri Iskandar, who posted the photo of the Zeekr 009 on Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owners Club’s (MyEVOC) Facebook group, this China-badged EV MPV appears to be wearing no form of camouflage drape whatsoever. Naturally, this Zeekr 009 comes equipped with a trade plate instead of a normal vehicle license plate, thus indicating that this exact model has yet to be registered.
Since the car has no camouflage wrap around its body, we can clearly see all the details and design elements of its exterior, including the full-width LED taillights, the multi-spoke alloy wheels, and the 009 badge at its tailgate. Unfortunately, we can’t be sure whether it is a right-hand-drive (RHD) unit or otherwise.
Regardless of that, the Zeekr 009’s sudden appearance on public Malaysian roads indicates that we’re getting closer to its official launch, which was supposed to take any time later this year.

Aside from the Zeekr 009 MPV (left), we can also expect the Zeekr X EV SUV (right) to make its debut in Malaysia.
According to our previous report, the Zeekr brand is slated to arrive locally under a newly-established entity named Sentinel Automotive instead of Proton via its new energy subsidiary PRO-NET. It turns out that this new entity was founded by Mohammed Reza Abdul Mutalib, who is also the founder of Lotus Karz, the official importer and distributor of Lotus cars in Malaysia.
Besides the Zeekr 009 MPV, the Malaysian market is also slated to welcome the Zeekr X EV SUV crossover, which has already made its debut in other ASEAN markets, including Thailand and Singapore.

A quick tour of the Zeekr 009’s specifications, this all-electric minivan underpins the same SEA platform used on many Geely-owned EV models, where it is equipped with a sizable battery pack of up to 140-kWh in capacity. In return, the sizable battery pack grants the 009 up to 822 KM of EV range (CLTC), while its dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup can deliver a total system output of up to 536 HP, which in turn enables 0-100 KM/H in just 4.5 seconds.
