Zeekr Posts Record Revenue, Boosts Output To Take On Tesla, Domestic Rivals
Geely Auto-owned premium electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Zeekr Intelligent Technology posted record revenue in the second quarter as its updated models won over more Chinese consumers from competitors.
Comparing the first three months of 2024 with the April to June quarter, revenue increased by 36% to 20 billion yuan. The amount was 22.5 times higher than the company's previous record, which was 16.4 billion yuan in the fourth quarter of 2023.
In comparison to the previous quarter, Zeekr's domestic and international deliveries surged by 65.8% to 54,811, during the second quarter. The company stated earlier this month that, following the expansion and optimization of its assemblies, it plans to transfer 30,000 units per month by the end of the fourth quarter.
In 2023, Zeekr sold 118,685 units, registering a 65% year-over-year increase.
For the record, Geely launched Zeekr in 2021, and in October of that same year, it began shipping Zeekr 001. The company competes in the premium EV market in mainland China against Tesla as well as domestic competitors like Nio and Xpeng.
Although sales of the luxury EV brand have increased significantly domestically, the company now plans to go global, Including Malaysia. The Zeekr brand is slated to arrive the country through a recently formed company called Sentinel Automotive.

A Zeekr 009 EV MPV was recently spotted roaming the streets of Malaysia without a camouflage drape, according to Facebook user Yuri Iskandar, who posted the photo on the Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owners Club's (MyEVOC) Facebook group.
With its appearance on Malaysian roads, we're getting closer to its official launch, which is expected later this year.
