SAIC Motor Delivers 2.12 Million Vehicles in the First Half of 2024

SAIC Motor posted positive sales figures for the first half of 2024, with a total of 2.12 million vehicles sold globally.
SAIC Motor has continued its positive momentum at the global stage, as the Chinese automaker recently posted a positive sales record in the first half of the year. In 1H 2024 alone, SAIC Motor delivered a total of 2.12 million vehicles globally, according to its production and sales report released on July 5.
Taking a closer look at the brand’s total sale volume reveals that 59% of the brand’s 1H 2024 global sales came from self-owned brands, which amounted to 1.26 million units. Meanwhile, new energy vehicles (NEVs) accounted for 29.5%, with 522,000 units delivered globally, whereas deliveries to the overseas markets hit an industry-leading 554,000 units.

Since 2018, SAIC Motor’s annual sales of NEVs have soared from 142,000 units to 1.12 million, which is a seven-fold increase, ranking in the top camp in global NEV sales. At the same time, annual sales to the overseas market have surged from 277,000 units to 1.2 million units, an over-three-fold increase compared to back in 2018.
More details on its overseas performance, SAIC Motors has delivered a total of 554,000 units in 1H 2024, which reflects in a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 13.9%. In the European market, SAIC Motor’s MG brand has successfully surpassed Tesla, entering the top 20 brands in sales.

MG4 all-electric hatchback
While we’re in Europe, the MG4 all-electric hatchback has been crowned the ‘Best Used EV’ at the 2024 Automotive Management (AM) Awards. Voted for by AM readers and an expert automotive industry judging panel, the award recognises the MG4’s excellent performance, reliability, and strong residual value. Since its UK debut back in 2022, the MG4 has achieved over 30,000 UK sales, making this sporty EV hatch one of SAIC Motor’s best-selling EV models in the overseas market.

Closer to home, SAIC Motors Malaysia recently previewed three models that are slated to make its entry into our market, including two ICE-powered models, namely the MG5 GT B-segment saloon and the MG HS C-segment SUV. The third model, which was unveiled as a surprise, is the sporty MG Cyberster all-electric roadster, which will make its debut some time later this year.
