The Xpeng brand recently arrived on our soil through Bermaz Auto (BAuto) with its G6 EV SUV offering.

By now we’re certain you’re aware that emerging Chinese electric vehicle (EV) marque Xpeng officially landed in Malaysia through distributors Bermaz Auto (BAuto). What some might have forgotten is how wildly innovative the Xpeng brand really is beyond the G6 EV SUV launched recently.

Take the Xpeng AeroHT pictured below which, essentially, is an electrified six-wheeled road-going land aircraft carrier. What’s remarkable here is how serious Xpeng’s intent is at turning this digitally rendered concept into a very real product, and in a rather short and rapid timeline for that matter too.

The Xpeng AeroHT is a unique combination of both an EREV van and a two-seat drone packaged together a 'land aircraft carrier'.

In fact, Xpeng reportedly wants to begin pre-sales of the Aero HT before the end of this year, followed by a trial production run starting in the middle of next year. Deliveries are slated to begin from 2026 onwards with each unit reportedly tagged at a hefty RMB2 million (approx. RM1.23 million).

Though pricey, what the AeroHT packs arguably justifies said costs. Moreover, a recent report by CarNewsChina also indicates that Xpeng has already received over 3,000 pre-orders after hosting an initial presentation of the AeroHT recently.

Unveiled late last year by one of its subsidiaries, the AeroHT consists of a large six-wheeled van that features a rather sleek Tesla Cybertruck-like design, boasting a spacious cabin plus a massive cargo hold to secure a two-seat eVTOL drone.

Xpeng appears to have back-tracked on plans of building a road-legal car with rotors, and believes the solution presented in the AeroHT is a better solution to driving on the street and taking flight.

The six-wheeled AeroHT van reportedly underpins an 800-volt architecture platform plus an EREV powertrain setup. However, no power outputs or battery capacity figures were disclosed.

The road-going carrier van itself underpins an 800-volt high-voltage platform, but it’s NOT an EV. Instead, it’s actually an extended-range electric vehicle, or better known as an EREV. Included in its powertrain besides e-motors and a sizeable battery pack is a compact combustion (ICE) engine.

The latter ICE mill serves to power the van’s e-motors and provide additional charge to the battery – as what most range-extending motors do. Altogether, Xpeng claims this setup in the AeroHT provides a combined claimed range of up to 1,000 KM.

Whilst the two-seat eVTOL drone has received airworthiness ceritification, the EREV-powered carrier van also boasts a combined range of up to 1,000 KM.

Xpeng has reportedly received 3,000 pre-orders for the AeroHT ahead of its planned 2026 deliveries.

As part of its pre-sales efforts for the AeroHT, Xpeng is poised to give the public their first chance to see the eVTOL drone in action during an upcoming event in Nov this year with a manually-controlled flight demo. The final version of it to go on sale in 2026 promises fully autonomous flying abilities too.

On that note, it’s also perhaps worth highlighting that the AeroHT van-and-aircraft combo has already received an airworthiness certification from the Central and Southern Chinese Civil Aviation Administration too.

As for production, Xpeng will produce the AeroHT at a new dedicated plant which starts construction later this month. Apart from the trial production slated from July 2025 onwards, Xpeng also touts the facility’s target to produce over 10,000 units of the AeroHT annually.
