Xpeng X9 Ultra Specs Revealed – Turing AI Chips, Minor Design Updates

A filing with China’s MIIT reveals a new Xpeng X9 Ultra variant, featuring some minor design updates and new hardware.
Weeks after its range-extender (EREV) twin was unveiled, it seems like the Xpeng X9 MPV will be gaining yet another new ‘Ultra’ variant, as indicated by this new filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
As reported by CarNewsChina, the biggest update for the new X9 Ultra lies beneath it, where the EV MPV is now powered by three Xpeng Turing AI chips that combine to deliver a total computing power of 2250 TOPS.

Two of these chips will be in charge of powering the X9 Ultra’s Vision Language Action (VLA) large model for the ADAS system, while the third one will be dedicated to enhancing the performance of its intelligent cockpit’s Vision Language Model (VLM) large model.

While not many images were revealed in this filing, we’ve been told that the X9 Ultra will get some minor design updates given to the X9 PowerX EREV, including the front fog lamps and lower front bumper areas, as well as the rear bumper design. Two wheel options measuring 19 and 20 inches will also be offered—both featuring aero-optimised spoke design.

Not many changes were highlighted on its powertrain setup, as the X9 Ultra is said to feature the same single FWD and dual-motor AWD powertrain options as before. The single FWD is rated at 315 hp (235 kW), while the dual-motor AWD gets an extra motor to deliver a combined output of 496 hp (370 kW). While no detailed battery specs were shared, both the FWD and AWD variants of the X9 Ultra will be juiced by ternary lithium batteries supplied by CALB.
As of now, Xpeng has yet to unveil any launch dates or extra details for the new Xpeng X9 Ultra, with this filing with MIIT being the only source regarding this new EV MPV variant. But given that we’re already nearing the end of the year, perhaps the X9 Ultra will make its debut sometime later in 2026.
