Zafrul: JAC Motors Set To Make Malaysia its ASEAN Hub

Chinese automaker JAC Motors is set to make Malaysia as the ASEAN region's preeminent hub for the production and export of commercial vehicles. This was shared on social media by Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), recently.
JAC Motors is renowned for manufacturing an extensive range of commercial vehicles, with a particular focus on innovation and sustainability, especially in the advancement of electric and hybrid commercial vehicle technologies.

“JAC Motors' commitment to Malaysia will not only create more high-skilled jobs but also boost our local capabilities in producing pickup trucks, as well as electric and hybrid commercial vehicles,” said Tengku Zafrul. He emphasised that this investment would position Malaysia at the forefront of green technology advancements, enhancing the nation's competitiveness in the automotive industry.
JAC Motors is already present in Malaysia through its Malaysian distributor, JAC Auto (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. No details have been provided on the fate of the distributor should JAC Motors establish its presence here.

Recently, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, launched the JAC logistic electric truck utilisation by Scan Global Logistics and HTH Corporation in their delivery fleet as part of its Penang2030 vision towards decreasing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable trade practices.

Tengku Zafrul further added, "As JAC Motors grows its presence here, Malaysia will become even more important as a supplier of cutting-edge commercial vehicles to ASEAN markets, solidifying its position as a key hub for the region's automotive industry. This is in line with Malaysia's overarching objectives of developing its automotive industry through technology and sustainable practices and emerging as a major force in the green economy."
