JPJ: Over 62K SG Vehicles Activate VEP Ahead of Oct 1
The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has revealed that as of 25 Sept 2024, 62,635 private vehicles from Singapore have thus far activated their Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) RFID tag.
This is part of the preparation for the enforcement of the VEP at the Malaysia-Singapore land border. VEP enforcement will be implemented in phases starting from 1 Oct 2024.
Singaporean vehicles without a VEP can still enter Malaysia as usual. However, owners of private vehicles from Singapore who have not yet obtained the RFID VEP tag will be reminded at the entry points to register, install, and activate the RFID VEP tag as soon as possible.
The VEP can be obtained from VEP installation centres in Johor Bahru ( TCSens Office, Danga Bay, JPJ Southern Region Academy, JPJ Johor Office, Taman Daya) and Singapore (VEP Collection Centre, Woodlands).
Although owners are only reminded on entry, if they fail to obtain their VEP when exiting Malaysia, a Warning Notice will be issued. All VEP registered vehicles (excluding motorcycles) will see a Road charge (RC) of RM20 levied when entering Malaysia.
More details on VEP and online registration can be obtained HERE.
