EVE Energy’s Phase 2 expansion in Malaysia is set to create over 1,000 jobs, boosting Malaysia’s role in the electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage sectors.
This was detailed at the recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between EVE Energy and Invest Kedah to develop its Phase 2 manufacturing facility, witnessed by Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
According to Datuk Sikh, this move aligns with the country’s commitment to economic growth and sustainability while enabling the company to meet global demand for energy storage solutions.
He also highlighted EVE Energy’s focus on building a strong local supply chain by working closely with Malaysian suppliers. The entry of international suppliers will also provide technical expertise, driving local industry growth.
Datuk Sikh further added - this project reflects Malaysia’s push for technological innovation and a stronger EV ecosystem. He emphasised that investments like this position Malaysia as a regional leader in battery technology. By combining EVE Energy’s expertise with Malaysia’s industrial strength, the country will strengthen its role in the clean energy supply chain.
Meanwhile, MITI Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul welcomed the expansion as it supports Malaysia’s goals under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the National Automotive Policy, and the National Energy Transition Roadmap.
He also noted that the project will enhance energy security, promote electrification, and create high-value jobs.
EVE Energy Chairman and Founder Liu Jincheng said the Malaysia facility marks the company’s first step in global expansion. He sees it as a milestone in accelerating the green energy transition through advanced manufacturing and innovation.
As we have highlighted before, EVE Energy’s Phase 1 plant went operational earlier in the year and is rumoured to begin supplying Tesla with batteries for its BESS by 2026.
