According to the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), traffic volume is predicted to increase starting tomorrow, with 2.62 million vehicles anticipated to use the main expressways heading towards the north, south, and east coast in conjunction with this Thursday's Deepavali celebration.
According to its director-general, Datuk Sazali Harun, 2.13 million vehicles are anticipated to use the PLUS expressways, 198,000 vehicles on the Kuala Lumpur (KL)-Karak Highway, 78,220 vehicles on the East Coast Highway Phase 1, 59,220 vehicles on the East Coast Highway Phase 2, and 153,700 vehicles on the West Coast Expressway-WCE.
"To deal with the increase in the traffic volume, LLM has instructed all highway concessionaires to make thorough preparations so that the journey of highway users is safe and smooth throughout this period," he stated in a statement issued yesterday.
According to Sazali, the LLM Traffic Management Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the convenience of highway users. Motorists can also obtain the current status of traffic or any incident on the highway, he said, by contacting the Traffic Management Center, LLM, at 1-800-88-7752, or by using the concession companies' and LLM's official social media accounts, such as the Malaysian Highway Authority's official Facebook page, the X application @llmtrafik, and tiktok @llmtrafik.
Users can access the LLM website at https://www.llm.gov.my to learn about the current traffic conditions via CCTV displays on all highways. Along with making sure their Touch 'n Go card and e-wallet balances are adequate, he also suggested that highway users use the MyPLUS-TTA application to plan their trip..
