New Harman Kardon Flow Series Brings In-Car Audio To The Next Level

Harman Kardon showcased its latest and greatest in-car audio hardware at an exclusive local press showcase recently.
Specialist audio equipment brand Harman Kardon recently held a special showcase for local press. Amongst the myriad of new and high-end products featured here were some of its latest and greatest in-car audio hardware too.
We were amongst the few local motoring titles invited to sample them first hand via two specially prepared demonstrators – an F30-gen BMW 3 Series and a relatively ‘current’ Toyota Vellfire. As we discovered later, these demonstrators were intentionally chosen for good reasons.
Specifically, it was the brand’s new Flow Series of in-car speakers that were being showcased through both demonstrators. Altogether, these stand to be top choices for anyone seeking an upgrade, provided they don’t mind meeting the steep asking prices these hardware command.

The demonstrators prepared during this showcase were an F30-gen BMW 3 Series and a 'current' Toyota Vellfire. Each were decked out with various new hardware from Harman Kardon's new Flow Series.
The line-up consists of the Flow 600CF and Flow 601CFS, Flow 300S, Flow 75T, Flow 80, and Feel 700. Whilst each are designed with specific purposes and frequency, all share the same traits of merging both luxurious design with cutting-edge audio technologies behind which.
Shared across the Flow Series component speakers too are Harman Kardon’s PurePath technology that delivers crystal-clear sound at any volume, as well as the brand’s Clari-Fi technology that restores rich details lost through digital compression.

Flow 600CF and Flow 601CFS two-way component drivers primed with a crossover.
Starting with the Flow 600CF and Flow 601CFS, these 165 MM (6.5”) two-way component drivers primed with a crossover were devised to deliver natural and detailed sound through a dynamic range. Enabling this is both their Aluminium Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) with Harman Kardon’s Plus One construction tech.
The Flow 300S, on the other hand, serves as an 89 MM (3”) mid-range subwoofer capable of delivering frequencies as low as 200 Hz whilst maintaining a 91 dB sensitivity to ensure rich, immersive sound. Moreover, its compact size and packaging also sees this unit being able to fit nearly any vehicle too.

Flow 300S.
Next comes the Flow 75T 19 MM (3/4”) Edge-driven silk dome tweeter set. Aluminium DCC cones construction offers constrained layer dampening to eliminate cone breakup and deliver precise pistonic motion. In turn, this enables them to widely disperse sound with high-frequency clarity ranging between 2kHz to 40 kHz plus a peak power handling of up to 360W.

Flow 80.
Moving on to the Flow 80 and, aptly, this product was made to be compatible with BMW Group models of a certain era – hence the F30-gen 3 Series demonstrator noted earlier. That’s because this 200 MM (8”) shallow depth subwoofer was built as an easy upgrade solution for said Bavarian marque’s model range.
What sets the Flow 80 apart from other hardware mentioned too is its unique design as a compact under-seat subwoofer. It features a metal grille for its magnet as well as Harman Kardon’s 60-degree slash pattern that keeps dirt out. Critically, this kit also includes adaptors for easier fitment in select Porsche and Audi models as well.

Feel 700.
Whilst the Flow 80 is designed for specific Germanic models, the Feel 700 was instead built for greater universal compatibility – just like the other products from the Flow Series mentioned here. As a 165 MM (7”) powered underseat active subwoofer, this unit stands as an “ultimate solution” of sorts that doesn’t not sacrifice on either form or function.
At the core of the Feel 700 is its utilisation of Class D audio tech to deliver efficiently powerful performance. This also perhaps explains its built-in 12W RMS amplifier that ensures resonant bass. Key to this kit too is its use of a die-cast aluminium enclosure and wrappings made from automotive-grade fabrics to easily fit into any car.
Keen on up upgrade with any of these? Then be prepared to muster the Ringgits for them – you’ll need plenty. Components in the new Flow Series range detailed are priced between RM580 to RM4,280.

Yes, good sound doesn’t come cheap, but perhaps those who seek it wouldn’t mind the sizeable investment for high-quality upgrades.
Besides Harman Kardon’s official Malaysian website, the new Flow Series in-car audio solutions can be obtained from 15 authorised car accessory retailers listed below:
