Previewed: Chery KP11 Pick-Up Truck – ICE, PHEV & EREV Available

Chery has previewed its upcoming pick-up truck model, which is said to be offered in ICE, PHEV & EREV forms.
Besides the new Jaecoo J5 SUV, the ongoing 2024 Chery International User Summit (CIUS) also sees Chery unveiling several new prototypes and concept models. Among the new stuff shown by the Wuhu-based automaker that caught our attention is this new pick-up truck model, which looks much closer to production than other concepts shown.
According to CarNewsChina, this mysterious truck is known by its internal code name KP11, where it is believed to be offered in both full combustion (ICE) and semi-electrified forms such as plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and range-extender EV (REEV).

On the visual front, it seems that the KP11 belongs to the midsize pick-up truck category while featuring very distinctive yet familiar design cues. For starters, its front end is decked with a massive front grille that features large Chery lettering while being flanked by a pair of split LED headlights that look similar to the ones on the new Mitsubishi Triton.

The Chery KP11 unit displayed here is decked with several lifestyle gears and accessories.
The KP11’s commanding front face is paired with its aggressive stance, thanks to the flared-out fenders this pick-up truck comes with. It is also important to note that this double-cab pick-up truck is shown equipped with several lifestyle gears and accessories, such as a roof-mounted tent with a side awning, side steps, a hard-top cover for the flatbed, and many more.

At the rear, the KP11 sports a pretty interesting LED taillights design with smoked tint that adds some sporty flair, plus a large Chery lettering is also embossed on the truck’s tailgate, just in case you’re mistaking it for some other American-badged pick-up trucks.
As we mentioned earlier, the KP11 pick-up truck is said to be offered in both full ICE and semi-electrified powertrain flavours, with CarNewsChina reporting the former might come in the form of a 2.4-litre 4-cyl petrol mill built by Chery’s powertrain arm, Kunpeng. However, it remains to be seen whether the KP11 will be available in any diesel forms, which would be the de facto choice for many other midsize pick-up trucks sold in major international markets.

And just like many other Chinese pick-up trucks of late, the upcoming Chery KP11 is set to penetrate several international markets as early as 2025. Given that our market has recently welcomed several new Chinese pick-up trucks, such as the GWM Cannon and JAC T9, perhaps there’s a high chance that we might get the KP11 for our market, possibly arriving along with its upcoming electrified rival, the BYD Shark PHEV.
