The 2025 Renault 4 E-Tech Is A Small, Retro-Inspired EV SUV
Meet the new Renault 4 E-Tech 100% Electric, which made its official debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show yesterday. This model pays homage to the original Renault 4 and provides a glimpse into the future of automotive design, all while reflecting Renault's plan to accelerate the energy shift.
The Renault 4 E-Tech EV was redesigned with modern cues, such as the horizontal bonnet and vertical grille, the stoppers in place of the tow hooks, and the rear-quarter windows, drawing inspiration from the R4 of the 1960s and the 2022 4EVER Trophy concept.
The new model is set to compete fiercely in the B-segment electric-SUV market, taking on well-known rivals like the Peugeot E-2008, Vauxhall Mokka, and the Citroen e-C3. The eagerly awaited MINI Aceman and Ford Puma Gen-E will also be fierce rivals in the near future.
The 4.14-meter Renault 4, which shares its AmpR Small platform with the 5, is 220 mm longer than its sibling, with 80 mm of that length coming from the longer wheelbase. The newer model, with its 420-liter boot and roomier rear bench, makes it the more practical of the two. It is roughly as wide as the 5, but slightly taller.
The electric car features an electric canvas roof plein sudTM that makes the interior feel more airy. All passengers can now enjoy an immersive experience with an 80x92 cm skyline view at the touch of a button or voice command.
The Renault 4 E-Tech is equipped with a 52kWh battery and a 150bhp/181lb ft motor, which provides a range of 250 miles. It will also accelerate to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds and maintain a top speed of 93 mph. A 40 kWh battery option is also available, promising a range of up to 186 miles*.
On the tech front, the 4 has a pair of digital displays, with the main 10-inch screen powered by the company's Google-based infotainment system. This setup supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a variety of third-party apps, and can be updated wirelessly.
Major parts of the Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric are assembled in Ruitz and made in Cléon, while the electric motor is manufactured at Maubeuge's ElectriCity complex. Renault's sustainability commitments are reinforced by the fact that the circular economy provides about 26.4% of all materials used.
Speaking of which, although Renault has not yet revealed the R4's price in the UK, it is anticipated to begin at little over £30,000.
