Authorities Must Follow 24h Road Repair SOP - Works Ministry
In order to guarantee that the public will not encounter any difficulties, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan states that agencies responsible for repairing roads other than federal ones, such as state and municipal roads under the control of JKR, must adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) established by the Public Works Ministry (KKR) to repair damaged federal roads within 24 hours.
He brought up an instance in Johor where a person sued a municipal concession for RM720,000 for injuries to his head, body, arms and legs after his motorbike struck a pothole. The court ordered the concession to provide compensation.
The deputy minister also mentioned that the public can file complaints regarding road concerns through the MYJalan app, which was launched in August of last year and serves as a one-stop shop for reporting road issues.
