MYTV App Now Available On Proton X70, Other Models To Follow
The MYTV Mana-Mana streaming application is now available on the Proton X series infotainment head unit (IHU), starting with the Proton X70. This was announced by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil who described the initiative as a collaboration between MYTV, Aco Tech, and Proton.
Fahmi noted that this move is key to advancing the broadcasting economy, with MYTV’s Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) platform now reaching 7.5 million viewers. He likened the innovation to the shift from CDs to digital music, stating that the IHU could eventually replace traditional FM radio broadcasts.
The event was also attended by MYTV Broadcasting Group Acting CEO Mohamad Helmi Harith, Proton Deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah, and Aco Tech Head of Marketing Allysha Juin.
Fahmi highlighted MYTV’s previous initiatives, such as integrating the Mana-Mana service on Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) trains. This allowed business-class passengers on ETS services to access MYTV Digital TV broadcasts during their journeys.
He also mentioned plans to expand the service further, including its potential use in in-flight entertainment systems.
Additionally, MYTV and the Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM) association are also exploring collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) to make the app available in more vehicles, including EVs, as part of their vision for the future of broadcasting.
