New ACO Tech ATLAS Previewed – Updated VR, YouTube Streaming, Etc.
ACO Tech previews its new ATLAS infotainment suite, featuring updates on voice recognition, maps, and streaming support.
In case you didn’t know, Proton’s tech arm, ACO Tech, is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. Themed as ATLAS: Reimagined, the company has decided to give us a glimpse into its future offerings, notably the updated version of the ATLAS infotainment suite.
Although no official rollout dates were given, the new version of ATLAS promises to elevate the user experience in Proton cars further, thanks to several key improvements made by the ACO Tech team. For starters, ACO Tech has updated the voice recognition (VR) capabilities for ATLAS, where the suite can now support local languages such as Bahasa Melayu and Chinese, with the latter catering for both Mandarin and Cantonese dialects.
Next, the company is in the midst of developing an e-Call emergency response system and a cloud-enabled Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication system to assist with traffic disruptions or in the event of accidents.
More importantly, the company also shared that the new ATLAS will now support more streaming and gaming applications, including YouTube, TikTok, and many more. To go along with this new app support, ACO Tech has also updated its on-board navigation system, which will now display the estimated fuel level and the sum of toll fares accumulated for your journey, as well as reports for any accidents occurring along the route.
ACO Tech also unveiled several EV-specific updates and features for the new ATLAS infotainment suite.
As for future Proton EV models, the firm is currently working on a one-touch feature through a built-in application that will help users conveniently locate the nearest charging station, make payments, and plan trips with their EVs. Given that PRO-NET previously confirmed that the e.MAS 7 EV will get the same charging map support as the smart EVs, perhaps we can see similar applications made by ACO Tech for the nation's first all-electric car.
Besides previewing the new ATLAS suite, ACO Tech also presented a white paper titled “Application Scenarios and Data Governance of Connected Vehicles in Malaysia” during its fifth anniversary event today. Presented by Proton CEO and ACO Tech Chairman Dr. Li Chunrong to the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, YB Chang Lih Kang, this white paper provides a detailed analysis of global and Malaysian connected vehicle technology, highlighting advancements in 5G, AI, and big data.
For its fifth anniversary, ACO Tech has also unveiled a new logo that "symbolises the company’s dynamism, along with its renewed vision, direction, and ambition in the highly competitive automotive technology sector."
ACO Tech CEO Li Pu
Commenting on this momentous occasion, ACO Tech CEO Li Pu said, “Our fifth anniversary marks a significant milestone in our journey as we continue to lead in innovative smart mobility solutions. We have combined local and international talents to develop new technologies that meet current and future consumer demands.”
“We extend our deepest gratitude to PROTON, government agencies, partners, and ACO Tech users for their ongoing support and trust over the past five years, which have been instrumental to our success,” the CEO added.
Since its inception back in 2019, ACO Tech has reached several key milestones, including becoming Malaysia’s first dedicated automotive cloud provider to enable smart mobility solutions within the ATLAS ecosystem, which encompasses the infotainment head unit (IHU), application, and watch. To date, the company has built a network of over 300,000 connected cars in Malaysia while forming multiple strategic partnerships with companies across various industries.
