As we approach the tail-end of the Auto Guangzhou 2024 motor show, it seems more and more automakers are showing their latest works and concepts. This time around its Toyota, as the Japanese maker unveiled its latest EV saloon concept known as the Toyota bZ7.
From the get-go, one can notice that the bZ7 looks very identical not only to the bZ3 EV saloon but also to another concept model shown by Toyota at the previous edition of the motor show, known as the Comfortable Space Concept.

Visually, the bZ7 gets a pretty sleek design, featuring an enclosed front face with C-shaped LED headlights, similar to the bZ3. Keen eyes will also notice that this concept comes with digital side-view cameras instead of physical side mirrors, although it’s very less likely for us to see them in the production version later.
At the rear, this sleek EV concept sports a full-width LED taillight plus a fastback-style roof that further accentuates its relatively long length, which indicates that this might be Toyota’s new mid-to-large EV saloon contender in China.

Unfortunately, no powertrain details were shed by Toyota on its new EV concept here, but CarNewsChina reports that this model might rock similar powertrain and battery setups as what’s been used on the bZ3. For reference, both the bZ3’s battery and powertrain specs are supplied by BYD, so it is highly likely that the bZ7 might follow in the footsteps of its smaller sibling.
Despite ‘borrowing’ BYD’s technology, the bZ7 is actually borne out of Toyota’s collaboration with GAC Motor, where the joint venture is also responsible for developing, manufacturing, and selling other Toyota EVs such as the bZ3X and Bozhi 4X EV crossovers for the Chinese domestic market consumption. Besides GAC, Toyota has also partnered with FAW in China, where they worked together to make models like the aforementioned bZ3 EV sedan and the bZ4X EV crossover.

With that being said, CarNewsChina also reported that the production version of the Toyota bZ7 EV concept won’t make its way into the production line until next year, where the model is slated to go on sale exclusively in China later in Summer 2025. Once the production starts, the bZ7 will join an exclusive list of Japanese EV saloons made by Chinese auto manufacturers, which also include models like the newly-launched Nissan N7 and Mazda EZ-6.
