GAC Rolls Out World’s Fastest Spinning Motor, 30K RPM - Quark Electric Drive 2.0
-full_normal.webp)
GAC recently made waves with the launch of its Hyptec brand’s latest innovation—the Quark Electric Drive 2.0. With a 30,000 rpm spin speed, this state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) motor is claimed to be the fastest in the world. It is currently in production and coming off the assembly line.
GAC's performance EV brand is Hyptec, formerly Aion Hyper. Three high-end performance EVs—the SSR, HT, and GT—are being introduced under GAC at the same time as the name change, which is a component of the brand's foreign expansion strategy.

The Quark Electric Drive 2.0 is packed with impressive specs, boasting a motor power density of 13 kW/kg and a remarkable efficiency of 98.5%. But what truly sets it apart is its ability to deliver up to 30,000 rpm—an achievement made possible by its unique use of an amorphous soft magnet, often referred to as “liquid metal.”
This material is only 25% thicker than an A4 sheet of paper, but it has a permeability that is 20–100 times higher than that of a typical silicon steel sheet. What was the outcome? A motor that pushes the limits of electric vehicle technology using near-room temperature superconductivity.

In practical terms, this means the Quark Electric Drive 2.0 can extend an EV’s range by up to 50 km without increasing battery size. For extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), this translates to an additional 150 km. It’s akin to giving an all-wheel-drive EV the same range as a two-wheel-drive model. GAC estimates that this breakthrough could save up to 90 billion kWh of electricity annually.
The Hyptec brand isn’t stopping there. Alongside the Quark Electric Drive 2.0, the company recently introduced a new generation of smart digital chassis. With a minimum turning radius of just 3.4 metres—a 40% reduction from previous models—this chassis also features the industry’s first fusion electronic differential lock. This means even if two wheels are suspended, the vehicle can effortlessly regain traction.
Soon, Hyptec models will feature the Quark Electric Drive 2.0, setting a new benchmark for performance and efficiency in the EV market.
