Xpeng X9 Debuts in Thailand – From RM361K, Malaysia Soon?

The all-electric Xpeng X9 luxury MPV debuts in Thailand, priced approximately at RM361,000. Malaysia soon?
Making its Thai market debut at the ongoing Thailand International Motor Expo (TIME) 2024 is the Xpeng X9. Debuted in China last year, this luxury all-electric MPV is available in a single variant for the Thai market, priced at THB 2.79 million (RM361,000 approx.).

Said variant is exclusively powered by a single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor setup rated at 315 HP (235 kW) and 450 NM that allows this electric behemoth to accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in 7.7 seconds. For better ride comfort and driving performance, the X9 comes standard with a dual-chamber air suspension system, as well as an active rear-wheel steering (RWS) system that grants it a decent turning radius of only 5.4 meters—one of the lowest in its segment.

Battery-wise, the X9 underpins the same SEPA 2.0 platform as the G6 EV SUV, with this FWD model coming equipped with an 84.5-kWh LFP battery pack that allows for up to 680 KM of maximum travel range, at least according to the more lenient NEDC standards. Thanks to its 800-volt battery architecture, the X9 can support DCFC at up to 330 kW, while AC charging is only capped at 11 kW.

On the visual front, the X9 stood out against its boxier adversaries by featuring a sleek and unique coupe-MPV bodystyle with tons of sharp lines and angular design elements. Aside from the sleek LED lights and stylish two-tone wheels, the X9 features 17 anti-drag design features, including its rakish rear windscreen that combine together to grant this minivan a decent drag coefficient rate of only 0.227, making it one of the most aerodynamically designed minivans out there.

On board, the Thai-spec X9 comes strictly in a seven-seater form with a 2-2-3 layout, with all seven of them can be adjusted electronically. Special for the second-row are the two zero-gravity seats that not only come with massage functions but also can be fully reclined to transform this peoplemover into a luxury bed for two. Besides the fancy seats, luxury amenities and tech equipment primed here include a large 21.4-inch display for the rear passengers, a built-in cooler, a multi-zone climate control, ambient lights, and a 23-speaker XOpera surround sound system.

Deliveries for the Thai-bound Xpeng X9 are slated to begin from Q1 2025 onwards, with Xpeng Thailand already taking bookings for the luxury electric minivan. Besides Thailand, the Xpeng X9 will also make its debut in Hong Kong, yet another right-hand-drive (RHD) market, later in 2025, meaning that it won’t be long before we get to see this sleek EV MPV making its local debut.
