Tesla Malaysia’s first highway Supercharging station is now operational at Skudai R&R (Southbound) on the North-South Expressway. This marks a significant step in expanding Tesla’s charging network beyond urban malls, catering to long-distance EV travelers.

Initially announced in mid-September 2024, the station faced delays despite assurances from Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz that it would go live by mid-November. Following recent scrutiny, the station is finally live, bringing Tesla’s Malaysian network to 13 Supercharging stations with 60 chargers, alongside 14 Destination Charging stations with 72 chargers.
Located conveniently between Starbucks and Family Mart, the Skudai station features four V4 Superchargers capable of delivering up to 250 kW of power at RM1.25/kWh (price has been updated to RM1.13/kWh starting 16 Dec 2024). However, it remains exclusive to Tesla vehicles, as the company has until the end of 2025 to meet the 30% accessibility requirement for other EV brands.

Idle charges of RM4/min apply when the station is fully occupied.
The Skudai R&R has become a growing EV hub, hosting five charging facilities. Nearby, the Johor Premium Outlet (JPO) offers one of the region’s fastest chargers—a 400 kW DC fast charger by DC Handal—providing additional options for EV users.
Unlike urban locations, the station does not include destination chargers, aligning with the highway’s purpose for quick stops rather than extended stays. Tesla’s move into highway charging is a welcome addition, further supporting Malaysia’s EV ecosystem and enhancing the convenience of long-distance travel.
