50% Toll Discount For CNY, From Jan 27 to 28

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi just announced today that highway users nationwide will enjoy a 50% toll discount for Class 1 vehicles from Jan 27 to Jan 28, in conjunction with the festive Chinese New Year celebrations.
The discount, which was just approved by the cabinet late today, will cost the government an estimated RM20.08 million in compensation to toll concessionaires. This initiative continues from the festive toll relief program introduced in 2023, which provided discounts during major celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, and Christmas.
To date, the government has spent RM356.18 million on the program.
This announcement marks a shift from Nanta's earlier statement that 2024 would be the final year for broad festive toll exemptions. Moving forward however, the government plans to adopt a more targeted toll relief approach, prioritising lower-income groups, including the B40 and M40 categories, in alignment with PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s subsidy reform strategy.
Nanta urged highway users to plan their journeys during the holiday period and take full advantage of this toll discount, which signals the conclusion of the nationwide festive toll relief program.
It is important to note that the discounted toll rate does not apply to the Sultan Iskandar Building and Tanjung Kupang toll plazas for routes to and from Singapore.
