Liberty Walk Mazda MX-5 ND Widebody Heads to TAS 2025

Joining Liberty Walk’s controversial Lamborghini Miura at the upcoming TAS 2025 is the LB-Works Mazda Roadster.
Another day, another polarising special build made by renowned Japanese tuner Liberty Walk, this time around based on the beloved Mazda MX-5. This special Miata ND will be paraded alongside the controversial Lamborghini Miura widebody at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 (TAS 2025).

And just like many popular LBWK builds, this special MX-5, cordially known as the LB-Works Mazda Roadster, gets the same widebody treatment. Besides the signature bolt-on widebody fenders, the LB-Works Roadster also comes with a pronounced front splitter, plus a ducktail-style spoiler at its rear tailgate.

While the flared-out wheel arches steal the show, the side part also features a set of rear skirts, as well as a new set of Meister wide alloy wheels shod in special Yokohama Advan tyres featuring white and red decals. Similar to the LBWK Miura previewed prior, the LB-Works Roadster is also dressed in LBWK’s signature white hue.

Beyond the widebody treatment, the special MX-5 also rides on an adjustable suspension system that allows the car to be slammed down closer to the ground. Besides the air suspension setup, we’d reckon the rest of the car’s mechanical parts are being kept original, including the 2.0-litre 4-cyl Skyactiv-G engine that sends 181 HP and 205 NM to the rear wheels (RWD) via either a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.

Unlike the special Miura build, the special body kit for the LB-Works Mazda Roadster is already available on sale, with prices starting from $4,675 (RM21,046) for the fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) version, while the more complex carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) unit commands a higher price tag of $6,248 (RM28,128). Given that the MX-5 is one of the most affordable sportscars in the market and its popularity in the tuning scene, we’d reckon LBWK won’t have any problems selling these kits.
Additionally, the LB-Works Mazda Roadster won’t be the only special MX-5 build to make its appearance at the upcoming TAS 2025, as Mazda itself will also showcase the Mazda Spirit Racing edition of the roadster, which is set to become the first model under its new motorsport-inspired sub-brand.
