Fancy A Retro Jeep Cherokee-Styled Redux Of The Honda WR-V?

No folks, your eyes aren't deceiving you. What you're seeing is indeed a Honda WR-V that's been reimagined by tuners Damd through their signature 'retro-Americana' flair.
With the 2025 edition of Japan’s famed annual Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS 2025) modified cars expo show dates looming closer, tuners Damd have elected to give an early preview of its booth’s line-up of show cars.
The obvious stand-out here is of course the WR-V Reverb pictured. Aptly, it doesn’t take much to deduce that this creation showcases the firm’s newest kit made for the Honda WR-V compact crossover SUV that we’re sure many of you are familiar with.
What really puts it out there is the classic and retro Jeep Cherokee-style reimagination of said compact crossover. This was made possible by an extensive new exterior conversion and bodykit set created by Damd. Clear too is how the end results splits the opinions.

The regular WR-V (left) versus Damd's redux (right) that's set to debut publicly at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 show this month.
From which, we can see a fully redesigned front end sporting a new six-slot grille flanked by rectangular headlights, the latter very much akin to a classic Jeep Cherokee. Adding to which are wood panel decals adding to that classic vintage American ‘station wagon’ look.
Damd also added a boxier front hood, a new and more rugged front bumper with unpainted plastic plus faux aluminium accents, whilst a set of black steel wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich mud-terrain tyres completes this ‘toughened’ WR-V’s stance further.
Say what you will about the retro-styled and ‘Americanised’ exterior redux, we’re certain some of you are already digging it, and that’s despite the identity crisis that ensues for this otherwise rather humble yet practical urban compact crossover offering.

Highlights from our test-drive review of the Honda WR-V. The compact crossover offering was launched locally back in July 2023 priced from RM89,900.
Speaking of which, naturally, there are no mechanical changes to note under the hood of this WR-V that’s cosplaying as a classic American off-roader. It continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cyl i-VTEC petrol heart outputting 119 HP and 145 NM to the front wheels via a CVT box.

Other creations from Damd set to debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 later this month.
Besides the Honda WR-V Reverb detailed, Damd is also set to show off a Toyota Sienta compact MPV that underwent a similar treatment, followed by several newly created kits for the Daihatsu Taft Kei-class crossover hatch. Share your thoughts of all in the comments below then…
