Kia PV5 Detailed – 400-volt Base, 161 HP e-Motor & Up To 400 KM Range

Kia has revealed details for its new and production-ready Kia PV5 EV van during this week's Kia EV Day event.
Besides the EV2 Concept and EV4, the Kia EV Day event happening this week also sees the Korean automaker fully revealing its production-ready Kia PV5 electric van (EV van) offering. As predicted, the PV5 appears to be equally as versatile as it is stylish.
As reported, the PV5 stands as the first from the automaker’s novel ‘Platform Beyond Vehicles’ line, and a myriad of configurations will be offered that includes passenger, cargo and chassis-cab. Underneath though, the PV5 shares the same 400-volt E-GMP bones as the EV3.
This explains why all versions of the PV5 share the same single front-mounted e-motor setup outputting 161 HP and 250 NM, followed by three battery capacity choices. The largest of which is a 71.2 kWh NMC type pack boasting a claimed maximum range of up to 400 KM.

Underneath, the PV5 rides on Kia's E-GMP base platform with a 400-volt rating. All variants share the same front-mounted e-motor but three battery capacities are availavble.
Besides that, Kia will also offer the PV5 with a mid-specced 51.5 kWh NMC and base-spec 43.4 kWh LFP battery packs, through the automaker has yet to disclose range figures for each yet. Nonetheless, regardless of capacity, all will also boast 30-minute 10-80% fast-charging speeds.
In terms of size, the Passenger and Cargo Long variants measure 4,695 MM long and have a 2,995 MM wheelbase. This makes the PV5 some 269 MM shorter than the US-spec VW ID.Buzz, and only 18 MM smaller than the short wheelbase version offered in Europe.
Notably, Kia has developed a Flexible Body System that allows for passenger, cargo, chassis-cab, wheelchair-accessible (WAV), and family vehicles, as well as crew, drop side, box (panel) van, freezer box, prime, and light camper configurations.

A myriad of configurations and body styles will be readied, thus making the Kia PV5 one of the most versatile offering in its space too.
Moving inside, all variants seats two up front, while the crew cab, passenger van and WAV guises brings a second, three-seat bench in the back. Payload capacities remain undisclosed, by cargo versions will gain roof- and floor-mounted railings.
Other features primed include dual digital displays – a 7-inch instrumentation and 12.9-inch infotainment interface. Notably, the latter display is powered by Google’s Android Automotive operating system, meaning it will come with an app store granting access to business-specific apps.
The PV5 will start to go on sale in both Europe and South Korea sometime in the second half (H2) of this year. Entry into “other markets” is set to commence from 2026 onwards.
