Launched: Jaecoo J7 PHEV – Over 1,300 KM Range, RM158,800

Jaecoo Malaysia officially launched the new Jaecoo J7 PHEV earlier today. Just one variant front-wheel-drive (FWD) is available for now.
After a series of endless online teasers since it was first previewed locally back in Oct 2024, the new and electrified Jaecoo J7 PHEV has officially launched earlier today. Just one locally assembled (CKD) variant is available now, and it commands an attractive price tag of just RM158,800.
For reference, this plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the popular Jaecoo J7 luxury SUV offering costs just RM10,000 more than the range-topping, all-wheel-drive (AWD)-equipped J7 model priced at RM148,800 – the base two-wheel-drive (2WD) variant, on the other hand, costs just RM138,000.

This electrified, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the popular Jaecoo J7 carries an enticing price tag of RM158,800. Included too are comprehensive warranties.
Critically, the price tag includes a 7-year or 150,000 KM base vehicle warranty, followed by a separate 8-year or 160,000 KM coverage for its PHEV battery pack, power motor, and motor controller unit. The latter also provides one-to-one exchange should the battery pack’s state-of-health (SoH) drop below 70% within the warranty period mentioned.
Of course, that’s not all. As seen in past launches, Jaecoo Malaysia have readied yet another enticing early bird package for early adopters of the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. In fact, the firm announced today at launch that bookings placed before March 2, 2025 benefit with an added 10-year or 1,000,000 KM vehicle and PHEV battery warranties, plus a complimentary V2L charger.

Jaecoo Malaysia also announced an equally enticing early bird package that applies to bookings placed before March 2, 2025.
As a refresher, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV adopts the Jaecoo brand’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) comprised of a 1.5-litre TGDi 4-cyl petrol Dedicated Hybrid Engine (DHE), a front-mounted e-motor, a sizeable 18.3 kWh PHEV battery pack, as well as a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
Altogether, the package outputs 347 PS and 525 NM to drive the front wheels, but the real headlining figure here is its ability to chart a total maximum range of over 1,300 KM on a single charge and tank – something we’ve tested and proven first-hand in a cross-country drive across China prior.

As a refresher, the J7 PHEV packs a PHEV powertrain package that can yield a maximum combined range of over 1,300 KM.
Noteworthy too is the fact that the powertrain’s electrified half accepts both 6.6 kW AC and 40 kW DC charging inputs, the latter enabling 30-80% re-charges in just 20 minutes. Additionally, a full charge grants up to 106 KM of all-electric range (NEDC), and the pack also boasts 3.3 kW V2L functionality.
On board, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV mirrors what’s seen in its pure combustion (ICE)-powered twins. Key features primed include a massive 14.8-inch portrait-oriented infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrumentation with heads-up display (HUD), powered and ventilated front seats, all-black faux leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, and an 8-speaker Sony audio system.

In terms of on board kit, amenities, creature comforts and tech, the J7 PHEV largely mirrors its combustion (ICE)-powered twins on this front.
Present too is an arsenal of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) features that enable Level 2 Plus-rated semi-autonomous driving abilities. Other key distinguishing bits include a set of distinct variant-specific 19-inch “Aero Wheels” rolling stock. Lastly, the new Jaecoo J7 PHEV sees three standard paintjob options available – Carbon Crystal Black, Moonlight Silver, and a distinct two-tone Olive Grey scheme. At launch, Jaecoo Malaysia will also offer the J7 PHEV with a Khaki White choice in place of the Olive Grey option mentioned. Take note that this is limited to just the first 100 units.
