The all-new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante breaks cover as the world’s fastest and most potent front-engine convertible.

Aston Martin has just unveiled the topless version of its new V12-powered GT, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante. Unveiled in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the Gaydon-based marque, the new Vanquish Volante matches the coupe as the world’s fastest and most potent open-top production car on sale, thanks to its beastly V12 engine.

As such, it retains the same 5.2 litre twin-turbocharged V12 lump as its coupe twin, which is capable of delivering up to 824 HP and a whopping 1,000 NM of torque to the rear wheels. The power transfer is facilitated by an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF, plus an electronic differential at the rear axle to prevent you from overshooting this V12 beast.

Said V12 lump helps the Vanquish Volante to clinch the world’s fastest convertible title, as this open-top Aston is capable of reaching 344 KM/H, thus matching the top speed of its coupe twin. Despite being faster than the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider in full blast, the Vanquish Volante is a tad bit slower from the get-go, as it goes from 0 to 100 KM/H in 3.4 seconds as opposed to the Ferrari’s 2.95-second century sprint time.

Due to its open-top nature, Aston Martin engineers have to reinforce the Vanquish Volante’s chassis, which as a result makes it 95 KG heavier than the coupe. Since the weight balance has been changed, the engineering team has also retuned the suspension setup on this convertible, which uses the same Bilstein DTX dampers as the fixed-roof version.

On the visual front, the Vanquish Volante looks very similar to the coupe, with the only obvious difference being its retractable fabric roof, which Aston Martin claims can be retracted in just 14 seconds. Once opened, the open-top roof gives the Vanquish Volante a much more muscular stance than its coupe twin, as its open-top silhouette further accentuates the curvy rear fenders. Also primed here are the 21-inch multi-spoke forged alloy wheels the Aston rides on, which hide the carbon-ceramic brakes behind them, titanium exhaust tips, and many more.

Just like the coupe, the Vanquish Volante comes strictly in a two-seater layout, with its cabin laced with tons of premium and tech amenities. Key highlights include the dual 10.25-inch screens, a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, standard Sport Plus seats that can be upgraded to carbon fibre Performance seats, as well as an array customisation options courtesy of the Q by Aston Martin bespoke arm.

First deliveries of the new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante are slated to commence from Q3 2025 onwards, with less than 1,000 examples set to be made for both coupe and convertible variants. Given that the standard Vanquish V12 retails from £334,000 (RM1.912 million) sans options and customisations, we can expect the Volante to get a slight premium over its coupe twin.
