BIMS 2025: Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid Previewed – Malaysia Soon?

Chery has previewed the hybrid version of the Tiggo Cross subcompact SUV crossover at the ongoing BIMS 2025.
Besides GWM and BYD, Chery has also used the Bangkok International Motor Show 2025 (BIMS 2025) platform to showcase some of its newest metal to the ASEAN region, this time being the Chery Tiggo Cross. Unlike the Tiggo Cross that debuted in Indonesia earlier this year, this unit showcased here in Bangkok is the pre-production hybrid variant of the subcompact crossover, set to debut in Thailand soon.

Also known as the Tiggo 4 Pro in some markets, the Tiggo Cross hybrid seems to look very similar to its full combustion twin, featuring the same small SUV crossover bodystyle with tons of design elements derived from its larger Tiggo siblings. This includes the sharp LED headlights flanking its hexagonal front grille with studded diamond inserts, black accents on the rear pillar to give it a floating roof look à la Tiggo 7 Pro, a full-width LED taillight bar, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and many more.
Dimension-wise, the Tiggo Cross slots below the Omoda 5 as Chery’s true B-segment SUV fighter, spanning 4,320 MM long, 1,831 MM wide, and a wheelbase of 2,610 MM. This puts it slightly larger than both its upcoming local rivals, the Perodua Ativa and Honda WR-V.

Given its pre-production state, it comes as no surprise that the Tiggo Cross hybrid displayed here is a left-hand drive (LHD) unit. From what we gather, we can see the interior looks closely related to the Tiggo 4 shown in China last year, featuring a dual-screen setup, leather-wrapped sports seats, a small sunroof, a tall central console, and many more.
By far the biggest and most notable difference between the Tiggo Cross hybrid and its full combustion twin in Indonesia is what it hides under the hood. The hybrid powertrain setup comprises a familiar 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp petrol engine that is mated to a single electric motor, which is juiced by a small 1.8-kWh battery pack tucked under the boot. Combined, this setup is capable of delivering a total system output of 190 HP and 370 NM—enough for a 10.8-second century sprint finish.
As of writing, Chery Thailand has yet to confirm the exact arrival date for the Chery Tiggo Cross hybrid here, but Thai buyers can expect to get their hands on this small hybrid crossover sooner or later.

Chery Tiggo 4 facelift previewed in China last year.
As for our market, Chery Malaysia has long planned to bring the Tiggo 4 Pro (or Tiggo Cross) into our market, where it is poised to become the automaker’s cheapest offering yet. Given that the Omoda 5 now starts from RM99,800 on-the-road, we can expect the upcoming Tiggo Cross to be priced lower than that, possibly closer to the Honda WR-V’s starting price of RM89,900.
