Belfield Tunnel Now Provides Easy Access To Menara Merdeka 118

Malaysian citizens can now rejoice as the accessibility to Menara Merdeka 118 has been significantly enhanced with the recent inauguration of the Belfield Tunnel. This infrastructure, which stretches slightly over a kilometer, proudly holds the title of Malaysia's second two-story tunnel and was officially inaugurated by the PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PMVSB), NST has reported.
Datuk Tengku Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud, CEO of PMVSB, stated that the newly opened tunnel aims to provide easy and stress-free access to the city, with ample parking for up to 8,000 vehicles.
"We look forward to welcoming people from all walks of life, from business professionals to shoppers and tourists, to experience all that Merdeka 118 has to offer once we are fully open," he said in a statement.
The Belfield Tunnel, accessible via Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Damansara, aims to enhance traffic flow and connectivity to Menara Merdeka 118 by alleviating congestion on major city roads. It directs vehicles into basement car park 4 of Menara Merdeka 118, with vehicles exiting from basement car park 5 onto Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Istana.
The tunnel will also provide convenient access to the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and 118 Mall, set to open in the second quarter of this year and June 2026, respectively. This will enhance accessibility to luxury hospitality and retail offerings while mitigating traffic congestion around the Merdeka 118 precinct at Jalan Hang Jebat, Jalan Hang Tuah, and Jalan Maharajalela.
