Ford Mobile Clinic Brings Lifeline To Malaysia’s Remote Villages

Many in Malaysia’s rural communities struggle to access basic healthcare due to distance, cost, and limited facilities.
To bridge this gap, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (Auto ConneXion), in partnership with Yayasan Sime Darby, launched the Ford Mobile Clinic - bringing essential medical services directly to those in need.
Backed by Ford Philanthropy and MyFundAction, the initiative aims to serve 9,000 patients annually across Kelantan, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan, focusing on agricultural and Orang Asli communities.

The mobile clinic provides outpatient care, emergency aid, health screenings, immunisations, and disease awareness programs, ensuring that people receive treatment without long and costly travel.
Auto ConneXion and Yayasan Sime Darby donated a Ford Ranger, while Ford Philanthropy contributed USD 55,000 (RM250,000) to fund the setup, modifications, and operational costs.
Datuk Jeffri Salim Davidson, Group CEO of Sime Darby, emphasised that no one should have to suffer due to a lack of healthcare access, while Jane Holloway, Senior Manager at Ford Philanthropy, reaffirmed their mission to support underserved communities.

With healthcare professionals and volunteers from MyFundAction, the clinic also promotes preventive care, encouraging early diagnosis and proactive health management.
Dr. Ghafur Rahim Mustakim, CEO of MyFundAction, believes this collaboration is a step toward lasting change.
Officially launched early this month, the Ford Mobile Clinic is set to transform healthcare accessibility in Malaysia’s remote areas.
