Four-Vehicle Crash In Kluang Leaves Five Dead, Including A Toddler

Five people, including a couple and their two-year-old daughter, were killed in a four-vehicle collision on the Plus highway northbound at kilometer 58.1. The accident occurred at 11:30 p.m. yesterday and also involved a trailer.
Three other children, ages nine, seven, and four, who were in the Honda Stepwagon Spada, suffered significant injuries. The driver and front passenger of the Proton X50 also died in the crash, according to Kluang District police chief Bahrin Mohd Noh.

"Based on initial investigations, the 35-year-old trailer driver was on his way from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur and upon arriving at the scene, the front right tyre of the vehicle burst, causing him to lose control.
"The trailer is said to have collided with a Toyota Camry that was on the same lane before the vehicle entered the opposite lane and collided with the Proton X50 and Honda Stepwagon Spada.
"Both cars were heading towards Johor Bahru."

Bahrin stated that the driver and passengers of the Honda Stepwagon Spada were evacuated before the vehicle was engulfed in flames following the collision.

The incident also resulted in the deaths of Iklil Nuraudah Muhammad Redzaa, 23, the unlicensed driver of the Proton X50, and a male passenger in his twenties who sustained critical injuries. Both fatalities occurred at the site of the accident.
"The trailer driver, who was injured in the right leg and waist, along with the couple's three children - two boys and one girl who were severely injured were taken to the Kluang Hospital for treatment," he said.
He stated that the male 38-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry, a 25-year-old female passenger, and a two-year-old boy were injured.

According to Bahrin, the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (RTA) 1987.
