GAC, Huawei Partner To Launch New Car Brand
Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC) has partnered with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to establish a new subsidiary, Huawang Automotive Technology Guangzhou, dedicated to developing a new luxury car brand, Reuters has reported.
GAC has invested CNY1.5 billion in the subsidiary and aims to become a global leader in smart driving technology by 2027.
The new brand will utilize Huawei's smart driving software and business development strategies throughout the entire process, from design to sales. The first model to be released under the Huawang brand will be a high-end intelligent new energy vehicle priced around CNY300,000.
An insider who talked to local news outlet Caixin revealed that Huawei's intelligent cockpit, smart driving, and smart vehicle control products will be integrated into Huawang Auto's vehicles.
The partnership will leverage Huawei's expertise across the value chain, encompassing product development, marketing, and ecosystem services.
The Shenzhen-based company has clarified that it won't produce automobiles independently. Huawei has outlined three distinct collaboration models with automakers: providing vertical components, offering intelligent systems through Huawei Inside, and delivering comprehensive solutions via Huawei Smart Selection.
