JPJ Pre-Hari Raya Ops: 11 Unfit Buses Found And Issued Notices
![]()
Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed recently that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has inspected more than 500 express buses in a nationwide pre-Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays operation.
The operation, which began on March 17, focuses on ensuring public service vehicles, especially buses, meet safety standards. The inspections covered key technical aspects such as engines, tyres, and braking systems.
This initiative is part of JPJ’s proactive measures before the main Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025 Operation, which will run from March 24 to April 8.

During the checks, 11 buses were found to be unfit for the road, leading to immediate prohibition notices. Meanwhile, vehicles that passed the inspections received certification slips confirming their roadworthiness.
Loke stressed that proper maintenance is crucial to ensuring passenger safety, especially during peak travel seasons.
Besides this, JPJ will deploy 2,500 personnel during the festive period to monitor accident-prone areas. Patrol cars will be stationed along highways to deter reckless driving and encourage safer road practices.

“The presence of enforcement officers on the ground has proven effective in reducing traffic violations,” Loke said.
He also highlighted common offences during festive travel, such as speeding, running red lights, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seat belts, overtaking on double lines, misusing emergency lanes, and overloading vehicles.
As travel demand surges for Hari Raya, authorities urge all motorists to remain cautious and follow traffic regulations to ensure a safe journey for everyone.
