Besides the new Leaf EV and Almera, Nissan has also given us a few new details regarding one more of its upcoming models, this time being its midsize pick-up truck fighter, the Nissan Navara. Set to make its debut in Australia later in 2026 or early 2027, the new Navara will be joined by two other midsize pick-up trucks from Nissan, namely the Navara/Frontier for the Latin America market and the new Nissan-Dongfeng Z9 for China.

The new Nissan Navara will share the same 2.4L turbodiesel engine and the ladder-frame chassis as the sixth-gen Mitsubishi Triton.

Focusing on the Aussie-spec Navara, the next-gen model will not only share the same ladder-frame bones as the new Mitsubishi Triton but also adopt the new 2.4-litre 4-cyl 4N16 turbodiesel engine as well. Nissan insisted that the new Navara won’t be a simple rebadge exercise, as there will be some significant engineering changes taking place to make it more competitive against the likes of the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.

Besides that, there’s not much to go on just yet, as Nissan has yet to unveil any teaser images for the new Navara, but given this is an entirely new generation model, expect some radical design changes to take place.

As we mentioned earlier, the new Navara will be making its debut in Australia sometime in late 2026 or early 2027, before making its way to other key markets like Thailand and eventually Malaysia. And just like its Mitsubishi twin, the new Navara will also be produced at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s manufacturing plant in Chonburi, Thailand.

The Latin American market will instead get a heavy facelift for the current DF23-gen Navara/Frontier.

Moving on to the Latin American-spec Navara/Frontier, this new pick-up truck is also poised for a 2026 global debut. But instead of an entirely new generation model, the Latin America market will only get a new facelift for the current D23-gen model instead.

Judging from the single teaser image published by Nissan, the facelifted Navara/Frontier looks very different from the current model, featuring an entirely new front face with triple LED DRLs, a massive horizontal front grille, and a more upright bonnet design. Given that this will be just a facelift, we certainly won't expect any big mechanical changes to take place.

Nissan-Dongfeng Z9

Last but not least, the new Nissan-Dongfeng Z9 completes Nissan’s new and updated midsize pick-up truck family. Exclusively available for the Chinese market, the new Z9 is slightly larger than both the Aussie and Latin American Navaras but still smaller than the US-spec Nissan Frontier.

Besides its radical and futuristic design, the new Z9 also comes with an assortment of powertrain options, ranging from petrol and diesel to even plug-in hybrid (PHEV), as a bid to cater to the strong demand for new energy vehicles in the Great Wall nation market.
