Nissan Announces Bold New ‘Revival’ Plan, Includes Plethora Of New Models

Newly appointed Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa, who officially takes charge April 1, will lead the firm with a new business plan featuring over 13 new and refreshed models.
There may just be hope still for embattled Japanese automaker Nissan. This week, the firm revealed a brand-new business plan where a plethora of new models were detailed, and all will play central roles towards reviving profitability for the marque.
In a nutshell, Nissan is set to develop and release over 13 new and face-lifted models featuring a mix of powertrain types – electric (EV), ‘e-Power’ hybrid, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) - over the next two years under the stewardship of new CEO Ivan Espinosa who takes charge from April 1.

For North America, Nissan's new product onslaught will feature a new generation Leaf EV, new Rogue SUV with e-Power hybrid and PHEV tech, updated Pathfinder, as well as a new Sentra saloon.
In brief, key new products announced include a brand-new third-generation Leaf EV that’s now morphed from compact hatchback into a crossover SUV instead. This will be central for the marque in its key North American (US and Canada) market.
For said market too, Nissan have also planned a brand-new fourth-gen Rogue SUV that boasts its e-Power hybrid and PHEV powertrains, followed by an updated Pathfinder SUV. Interestingly, this region is also set to welcome a brand-new iteration of the Sentra sedan too.

Over in Europe, the new-gen Leaf EV, will also arrive with a new and all-electric Micra that's actually a rebadged Renault 5, as well as a revised Qashqai.
Over in Europe, the automaker is set to renew its push in the Old Continent with a brand new and all-electric redux of its Micra supermini nameplate – essentially, Nissan is set to rebadge the Renault 5 for which.
Other key European models planned include a new and all-electric follow-up to its popular Juke compact crossover that’s based on the Hyper Punk concept. Also in the pipelines is a revised iteration of the Qashqai crossover featuring an improved version of Nissan’s e-Power tech.

Also in the pipelines is a new pick-up truck - likely the new Navara.
For its Japanese home market, Nissan outlined the new Leaf EV here too, followed by an updated kei car model, and a slew of other updated and new generation models featuring upgraded e-Power tech under their hoods.
In other market regions, Nissan also teased a new one-tonne pick-up truck and Patrol SUV, plus a slew of new models harnessing the upgraded e-Power tech again. Also not forgotten here is the Infiniti luxury sub-brand, and it too will receive a series of new and refreshed models.

Whilst the new Micra (left) will be a rebadged Renault 5, the new Leaf EV (right) sees Nissan morphing it from compact hatchback into a crossover SUV.
In regards to the upgraded e-Power tech mentioned, Nissan touts a 15% improvement in efficiency at higher speeds, and the setup is poised to centre around a brand-new 1.5-litre petrol mill designed specifically for the unique e-Power hybrid setup.
Lastly and arguably very exciting too is the fact that incoming new CEO Espinosa promised that a follow-up to the Nissan GT-R sportscar nameplate will be planned, though no timeline for which was specified.
