Terengganu Anticipates Up To 80,000 Vehicles On Roads For Raya

Terengganu expects significant road congestion, with up to 80,000 vehicles anticipated on main roads starting March 28 due to Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. Peak congestion is expected March 29-30, according to Terengganu Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Mohd Zamri Samion.
Mohd Zamri stated that the JPJ will intensify monitoring and patrolling efforts, incorporating continuous 24-hour surveillance, to guarantee seamless traffic flow and the safety of road users.
"A 24-hour (traffic) operation will also be conducted on March 29 and 30, in line with the driving ban on goods vehicles," he said in a Bernama report.

According to Mohd Zamri, Terengganu JPJ will also station staff in key locations and accident-prone zones to keep an eye on traffic, relieve congestion, and notice drivers who break the law.
He also mentioned that the department would put the same road user safety strategy into effect in anticipation of another traffic surge on April 5 and 6, when the majority of drivers will leave the state following the festivity.
