ECRL Railway Construction Along Kota Bharu-Selangor Over 80% Complete

The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, spanning 665 kilometers from Kota Bharu, Kelantan to Selangor, has achieved over 81% completion. Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) CEO Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak confirmed the project's progress, stating it remains on track for its December 2026 completion date.
According to Darwis, the 81% completion figure follows a recent inspection of the Pasir Puteh ECRL Station site.
“The work progress of the 43-kilometre alignment in Kelantan has reached 88.86 per cent, contributing significantly to the overall advancement of the project,” he said, adding that testing and commissioning activities are expected to begin in June 2026.
The CEO of MRL stated that construction on the two ECRL stations in Pasir Puteh and Tunjong, Kelantan, are 69 and 68 percent complete, respectively. Both stations should be finished by May 2025.
Furthermore, Darwis said that the 400-kilometer section connecting Kelantan, Terengganu, and portions of Pahang is doing well, with 90 percent of the work completed in Terengganu and 86 percent in Pahang.
