Isuzu Malaysia has appointed Tomoyuki Yamaguchi as its new CEO, beginning from Apr 24, 2025, onwards.

Isuzu Malaysia has recently announced the appointment of Tomoyuki Yamaguchi as its new CEO. Effective from Apr 24, 2025, onwards, Yamaguchi will replace the outgoing CEO, Shunsuke Okazoe, who has returned to his native Japan to assume the role of the vice president of the Japan Sales Division at Isuzu Motors Ltd.

A graduate of Toyo University, Yamaguchi joined Isuzu Motors in 1997 and began his career assigned to the International Operations Department, handling overseas markets such as Russia and Ukraine. He remained involved in the eastern European countries and various southwest Asian markets for over a decade before being seconded to Isuzu Motors South Africa, which was his last post before spearheading Isuzu Malaysia.

Commenting on his appointment as the new Isuzu Malaysia CEO, Yamaguchi said, “Isuzu Malaysia remains a model of excellence in the global perspective. The operations here have established a base of loyal customers who recognize the strengths and capabilities of Isuzu vehicles.

“However, we need to continuously strive to make every customer experience a positive one. I hope to work with the team and our dealers to bring customer satisfaction to the next level,” the new CEO added.

Among his aims at Isuzu Malaysia is to create a wider spectrum of in-house services offered by the dealerships in order to ensure customers receive quality-assured services. With the growing number of Isuzu vehicles on Malaysian roads, Mr. Yamaguchi will also prioritize speedier parts availability through enhanced warehousing processes.

Despite the recent implementation of the rationalised diesel fuel subsidy, Isuzu Malaysia still manages to retain its position as one of the leading pick-up truck brands in the country. The firm previously reported that sales of the Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck in the first quarter (Q1) of this year saw it capture an 18.3% share of the local pick-up truck market segment, which marks a healthy increase versus the same period last year, when the D-Max only captured 14% of the market segment.
