Rapid KL Ends Free Service For Putra Heights Fire Victims
The complimentary On-Demand van service provided by Rapid KL to those affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire ended on April 13th, coinciding with the closure of the relief center at Putra Heights Mosque.
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad stated that the service, which began on April 3rd, transported over 1,100 victims, volunteers, and government agency personnel from the relief center to residential areas in and around Putra Heights, Kampung Puchong Tengah, and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.
"As part of the Prasarana Prihatin initiative, 10 vans and around 50 personnel, including bus captains, senior traffic controllers, enforcement teams and auxiliary police, were mobilised to ensure smooth operations," read the statement. In addition, five dedicated vans were deployed to transport 103 affected students to 19 schools in Putra Heights, USJ, Seafield, and Shah Alam, operating from Monday to Friday. This service allowed students to continue their education without interruption while their parents or guardians were at the relief center.
"Overall, the response from victims was very encouraging, with many expressing their gratitude for the support provided. Local authorities also commended Prasarana's efficiency and commitment in assisting the affected community," the statement added.
Prasarana expressed gratitude to various organizations and individuals for their contributions to the initiative's success. These included the Transport Ministry, Selangor government, Petaling District and Land Office, local authorities, Selangor State Education Department, Darul Ehsan Islamic Foundation, Social Welfare Department, volunteers, and security personnel.
