This Is What Perodua’s First EV *MIGHT* Look Like

Renowned render artist Theottle has given us a glimpse of Perodua's first EV, which now features a sportier crossover bodystyle.
In case you missed it, Perodua has just shown us a half-cut of the final prototype for its first all-electric model at the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025), with said model now featuring a sportier fastback crossover bodystyle. Fortunately, we don’t need to use our imagination too much, as renowned render artist Theophilus Chin (@Theottle) has given us a glimpse of what P2’s first EV might look like.

From the get-go, you can see that the rendered Perodua EV adopts some design cues from its previous concept model, the Perodua e-MO II concept EV hatch. As a result, the crossover gets a similar front face to the e-MO II, featuring a grill-less look with slim LED DRLs, plus a more prominent lower bumper air intake.
Things are dramatically different from the e-MO II as we get to the side part, where it gets a larger and more practical SUV crossover bodystyle with a sporty fastback roof. Using the Alfa Romeo Junior as a reference, the rendered Perodua EV looks very sporty and muscular, despite being slightly jacked-up from its hatchback predecessor.

At the rear, Theottle uses the displayed model as a reference to complete the missing half of its rear end, featuring sharp, triangular-shaped LED taillights connected by an LED light bar. Besides the rakish rear windscreen and a roof-mounted spoiler, the rear end of the car looks pretty clean and simple, with no prominent garnishes or accents to make it look overtly sporty.
As mentioned by Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad during the preview, the new Perodua EV will be a B-segment SUV crossover, which also explains Theottle’s decision to use the Alfa Junior as his design reference.

Given its slightly smaller size, Perodua’s first EV won’t be going directly against the likes of the Proton e.MAS 7, the BYD Atto 3, and even the Chery Omoda E5. With that being said, P2’s EV might be the cheapest EV on sale in our market, as the Perodua boss says that the car is still on track for a sub-RM80,000 price tag, with the proposed Battery-as-a-Service (BAAS) leasing programme playing a huge role in cutting down its final price.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long before seeing the final production version of the Perodua EV, as this sporty crossover is slated to be launched in Q4 2025, with its production taking place as early as Sept this year. Should the final product look remotely close to Theo’s renders, P2’s EV could potentially be an instant hit amongst Malaysians.
