Launched: 2025 Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance – RM2.168 Million

Also launched today is the new Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance PHEV roadster, priced at RM2.168 million.
Besides the new, second-gen AMG GT Coupe, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has also unveiled the top-spec variant for its SL roadster, the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance. This plug-in hybrid (PHEV) super-convertible is retailed at RM2,168,888 on-the-road, with said price inclusive of a standard 4-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty provided by MBM.

Dubbed the most powerful SL ever made, the new SL 63 is powered by the same V8 PHEV setup used on both the AMG GT Coupe and its four-door twin. It uses a handmade 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as its core, where it combines with a rear-mounted electric motor to deliver an astounding total system output of 816 PS and 1,420 Nm.

With Merc’s proprietary 4Matic AWD system and a unique two-speed hybrid transmission, the SL 63 S E Performance can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds before topping out at 317 km/h. Given its performance-biased setup, the PHEV roadster boasts a minimal EV-only range of only 13 km, courtesy of a small 6.1-kWh battery pack.

Besides the fancy PHEV setup, the new SL63 also benefits from other AMG-specific performance upgrades, such as the AMG Active Ride Control with active roll stabilisation, rear-axle steering, AMG carbon ceramic brakes with six-pot front callipers, and an active aerodynamic element hidden under the engine bay.
Not to forget, a total of eight driving modes are available in this performance PHEV roadster, namely Electric, Battery Hold, Comfort, Smoothness, Sport, Sport+, Race, and Individual.

Built based on the current R232-gen SL, the new SL 63 S E Performance features almost similar sharp design cues as the AMG GT Coupe. Some exterior design highlights include sharp digital LED lights on both ends, a sleek roadster bodystyle with an elongated front hood and short rear overhang, 21-inch forged alloy wheels, plus several AMG styling packages like the AMG Night Package, the AMG Aerodynamics Package, and the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre Package.

Similar to its other siblings, the SL 63 comes with a soft-top convertible roof, which Mercedes claims can be opened in 15 seconds at driving speeds of up to 60 km/h.

Jumping inside the new SL 63, you’ll notice that it sports a 2+2 seating configuration. Up front, the performance roadster still gets a slew of creature comforts like the large 11.9-inch MBUX infotainment screen, a digital metre cluster with AMG-specific graphics, an AMG leather steering wheel, AMG Performance front seats with ventilation and massage functions, Manufaktur Nappa leather upholstery with diamond quilting around the cabin, a built-in Airscarf, and many more.
