New BMW X3 & 2 Series Gran Coupe Teased For My BMW World 2025
BMW Group Malaysia took to its official Facebook page last weekend with a surprise teaser. Despite the veil, we’re certain you’ll agree it’s not hard to guess the cars hidden underneath which thanks to their distinct headlights and silhouettes.
Set to debut locally at the upcoming My BMW World 2025 expo this month are the new second-generation (F74) BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe compact fastback sedan and the new fourth-generation (G45) BMW X3 premium crossover SUV.
Screen grab of the teaser video (left) clearly shows the silhouettes and signature headlights of both the new second-gen 2 Series Gran Coupe (top, left) and fourth-gen X3 crossover (bottom, right).

As a refresher, My BMW World 2025 was announced late last month, and it takes place this week at Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur from June 13 to June 15. Details for which, and how can register to attend, are available by clicking here.
Back to the teased models, this sees BMW Group Malaysia making good on its promise if debuting of several new metal here. Both were also expected since their respective ‘Final Edition’ special guises - this and this - were announced for sale back in June last year.
BMW skipped a face-lift (LCI) version of the outgoing F44-gen model, choosing instead to debut a brand new second-gen version of the 2 Series Gran Coupe (F74) back in Oct last year.

We’ll start with the new second-gen (F74) BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe first, BMW elected not to give the outgoing and localised (CKD) F44-gen model a facelift. It instead globally debuted a fully revised new model mentioned back in Oct last year.
Since then, we’ve anticipated for its arrival and entry into our market, more so following its recent regional debut in neighbouring Singapore back in April this year. Like its predecessor, the model is expected to be built locally (CKD) in Kulim, Kedah once again.
As reported, this sleek four-door coupe-styled fastback saloon gains 20 MM in length and 15 MM in height, thus seeing it now sits some 4,565 MM long, 1,800 MM wide and 1,435 MM tall. Unchanged here is the 2,670 MM wheelbase figure.
The new heavy redesign arguably masks the fact that the new 2 Series Gran Coupe has grown by 20 MM in length and 15 MM in height.

Expect the new-gen 2 Series Gran Coupe to debut locally with an updated 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol MHEV heart (left) plus a slightly larger and more practical cabin furnished with a host of new amenities (right).

The size growth detailed supposedly translates to a larger cabin with both enhanced comfort and practicality. As for powertrain, expect the new-gen model to employ a 1.5-litre-3-cyl turbo petrol mild-hybrid (MHEV) mill too.
For reference, the outgoing model mentioned is presently tagged at RM221,800 (M Sport) and RM226,800 (Final Edition). Expect this new second-gen successor to be priced close to these figures again thanks to CKD status once more.
Also teased is the new fourth-gen (G45) BMW X3 crossover SUV. This is set to rival directly against the second-gen Mercedes-Benz GLC.

Moving on to the new fourth-gen (G45) BMW X3, the Bavarian marque’s direct rival to the Mercedes-Benz GLC was first revealed globally back in June last year. As detailed, this new generation version still underpins the familiar rear-biased CLAR Platform base.
Like the rivalling GLC, the new X3 sees both mild- (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol powertrain options available. There’s also an additional 3.0-litre straight 6-cyl turbo mill designated for the range-topping M50 xDrive variant.
At My BMW Word 2025 later this week, we can expect the new G45-gen X3 to debut locally in in both MHEV and PHEV forms as its predecessor. And just like its predecessor, we can also expect it to be locally produced (CKD) too at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah.

Expect the fourth-gen BMW X3 to arrive locally packing both mild- (MHEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain choices (left), plus a host of new and improved features on board (right).
Expect the new fourth-gen BMW X3 to continue being localised (CKD) as before too.

Whilst the outgoing G01-gen X3 did see an all-electric (G08) iX3 twin offered alongside prior, the latter electric vehicle (EV) nameplate has yet to see its new production-ready successor based on the Neue Klasse platform revealed fully just yet.
Nevertheless, the prospects of an all-new X3 premium crossover offering should prove tempting, especially if BMW Group Malaysia can capitalise on the model's CKD status once again and price it right – the outgoing G01-gen X3 was tagged from as low as RM304,800.

Expect more details of both new models and more at My BMW World 2025 later this week.

Look out for more updates of both models from their debuts at My BMW Word 2025 later this week.
In the meantime, what do you folks reckon? Ready to locally welcome both successors to BMW's best-selling nameplates? Hit the comments below with your take then…
