Proton Expands EV Footprint with e.MAS 7 in Trinidad and Tobago

Proton took another major step in its international expansion after launching its first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, in Trinidad and Tobago, recently.
This marks the model’s second international destination after Nepal and reinforces the company’s push to grow its EV presence beyond Malaysia.
The launch took place in Port of Spain and was officiated by Jean-Marc Mouttet, Sector Head of ANSA Motors Limited and Alexander Sabga, General Manager of New Business Development at ANSA MCAL Ltd.

ANSA Motors has served as Proton’s official distributor in the Caribbean since 2013.
To support its growing EV customer base, ANSA Motors also opened a new, state-of-the-art EV showroom at The City of Grand Bazaar. The facility is designed to offer an immersive experience for potential buyers and provide specialised support and education on electric mobility.
Trinidad and Tobago is already an established market for Proton, with 481 vehicles exported to date. This includes 271 units of the Proton X50, 141 units of Proton X90, and 44 units of Proton Saga. The strong reception of these models helped pave the way for the introduction of the e.MAS 7.

Only the Premium variant of the e.MAS 7 is offered in this market. It features a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, 215 HP (160 kW) and 320 NM outputs enabling 0–100 KM/H in just 7.1 secs, as well as a 60.22 kWh Aegis Short Blade battery pack yielding a WLTP-rated range of 410 KM.
First launched in Malaysia in Dec 2024, the e.MAS 7 has quickly become Proton’s third most popular export model after the Proton Saga and X50.
Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Director of Proton International Sales Division, said the launch highlights Proton’s commitment to EV adoption in its export markets. He added that the e.MAS 7 will be introduced in additional markets like Mauritius and Singapore later this year.
